What we're about

HER+Data is a community for women or people who identify as female who work with and love data. Our goal is to bring together women who work with data or who would like work in data - to support and promote one another, to share experiences and knowledge, and to talk data. We want to connect and inspire amazing data women with diverse expertise and experience. Our events are simple and informal with a focus on networking events and career stories. There is always great content, laughter and a room full of data women from various backgrounds. While our core aim is to elevate women in data science and analytics, we are inclusive to anyone who supports our cause regardless of gender or technical background.

If you are a women working in analytics or data science and you're interested in giving a lightning (~10 min) talk about your career in data, or a technical project, please reach out - we'd love to hear from you. Feel free to help us spread the word and invite other data women to our community! And if there are specific topics that you would like to see discussed then please let us know. We are always happy to explore new ideas :)

Our next HER+Data meetup of 2019 will take place on Tuesday June 18th at Zalando with talks from more amazing women who work with data! We’ll have great talks from female data scientists, leaders and women passionate about AI & ML so come along, ask questions and meet other women who love data! Agenda: • 18:30- 19:00 Check-in & networking with some light refreshments • 19:00- 20:00 Lightning talks from speakers and Q&A • 20:00- 21:00 Networking & wrap-up Speakers: Becky Byrne (@sharkels) is the Head of Product within the Information organisation at Zalando. She has an extensive background working with large Communication Service Providers (CSPs) on a global scale. Her primary focus has been in North America and Europe, working with companies such as AT&T, Sprint, Rogers, T-Mobile, Comcast, BT and Vodafone. As the industry evolved, this has included data collection, mediation, billing, policy controls and charging, billing presentment and customer experience management. Originally from Overland Park, KS, USA, Becky has been living in Dublin, Ireland since 2012. Marianna Botika works in strategic IT Sourcing in AI and Automation @ Verizon. She is a strong information technology professional with a MBA focused in Business Strategy and advanced degree in Finance. Experienced in working for a big technology companies such as Hewlett Packard, Eaton, Verizon. Primary focus on IT Strategy, partnership with key suppliers and digitization. Currently working as Strategic IT Sourcing – AI and Automation @ Verizon, Marianna is responsible for designing and implementing AI and Automation Category Strategy. She is highly skilled in structuring and negotiating strategic deals with suppliers. Marianna is also proactively involved in applied AI & Automation initiatives, while analyzing all the value and costs it may bring. Aoife D'Arcy, Managing Director, Chief Consultant @ The Analytics Store. has spent the last 15 years developing analytical models and processes for major national and international companies in banking, finance, insurance, gaming and manufacturing. Aoife has developed particular expertise in customer insight analytics, fraud analytics, and risk analytics. Aoife founded The Analytics Store in 2009 to pursue her passionate belief in the importance of developing in-house analytics talent in organisations. Aoife works with organisations to help them build world class analytics teams and processes through a unique mix of training, consultancy, and mentoring. She is a co-author of the textbook "Fundamentals of Machine Learning for Predictive Data Analytics: Algorithms, Worked Examples & Case Studies" published in 2015 with MIT Press. Aoife’s qualifications include a M.Sc. Financial and Industrial Mathematics from Dublin City University and an B.Sc. (Honours) Statistics and Computer Science from National University of Ireland, Maynooth. Claire Kelly has over 6 years’ experience across recruitment, with 4 years specifically in the Big Data and analytics field. Throughout this time she has worked with a multitude of companies from SME’s to large multinationals who are either setting up their EMEA HQ or expanding their operations across Ireland. Further to this, she works extensively with the IDA to advise international companies on talent and skills availability across Ireland.
