The Show: Small in stature but enormous in spirit, Northern Dancer was the unlikely champion who made Canadian history and became a national hero. His remarkable journey from underdog to international racing sensation is brought vividly to life in this uplifting and uniquely Canadian musical. Featuring an original score by acclaimed composer Marek Norman, with book and lyrics by Jim Betts, DANCER tells a story of determination, ambition and triumph against seemingly impossible odds.
What makes this production especially remarkable is its innovative approach to portraying horses onstage. Rather than relying on costumes or puppetry, internationally acclaimed, Emmy-nominated choreographer Stacey Tookey uses stunning contemporary dance to capture the grace, power and spirit of these magnificent animals. At the heart of the production is extraordinary dancer Keanu Uchida, who brings Northern Dancer to life entirely through movement. With a talented cast that includes Barbara Barsky, Sterling Jarvis, Tyler Murree and Sam Rosenthal, DANCER promises a theatrical experience filled with music, emotion and unforgettable storytelling. A celebration of Canadian history and the extraordinary things that can happen when an underdog beats the odds! More information.***
