What we’re about

Welcome to the Bangkok Travel Meetup! This group specializes in seeing "Unseen Thailand".  On our trips, we provide you with an unusual opportunity to see places that mainstream tourists don't see.  This is what we have visited so far:

Lopburi - a small, charming town where temple ruins sit alongside noodle stalls and street markets.  A highlight was Phra Narai Ratchaniwet, the ancient palace of King Narai the Great built in 1666.

Amazing Amphawa - to Samut Sakhon Province and Samut Songkhram Province by two trains and a boat.  We saw the Mahachai Market, the amazing Rom Hub Market (umbrella folding market right on the train tracks), went on a boat cruise along the Mae Klong River and PeeLoak canal, and saw the wonderful Amphawa Evening Market.

Kaeng Krachan National Park - the largest national park in Thailand

Nakhon Pathom, a typical provincial Thai city, with Phra Pathom Chedi as a visible link to Nakhon Pathom’s claim as the country’s oldest city.

Phetchaburi - The cave sanctuary of Khao Luang is filled with aging Buddha images in various stances, many of them originally placed by King Rama IV, Khao Luang Cave with a large reclining Buddha and a lot of ancient Buddha images, Khao Banda-It, a cave sanctuary, and Bang Khun Sai Village to learn about livelihood of the fisherman who earn their living by sitting on a wooden board and sliding along to pick up cockles from the mud sea.
