Technical Trail Running 101

Details
This summer we are hosting a series of introductory trail running sessions called Technical Trail Running 101. These sessions offer a wealth of information to those looking to join our Saturday morning runs or just run in the mountains.
These are designed for anyone:
- new to the area
- new to running
- new to trail running
- not sure about joining one of our Saturday runs
- just wanting to get better and be more confident with running on steep and rocky terrain
Don’t worry about pace; don’t worry about experience. If you can run 3 or 4 miles you’ll be fine!
We have planned 3 sessions on Wednesday evenings over the next month. Each session will be 1-2 hours long and start at a different location around Boulder. We’ll begin with a 5-15 minute discussion and then run for 2-4 miles with periodic stops to discuss additional techniques and answer questions.
Here are the session details:
- Week 1: 7/16 5:30pm - Shanahan Ridge Trailhead
- Week 2: 7/30 5:30pm - Chautauqua Park Trailhead
- Week 3: 8/13 5:30pm - Foothills Trailhead
We’ll cover the material outlined in this article: Technical Trail Running 101. Please review this beforehand and bring your questions!
In addition we can discuss all kinds of topics like choices related to shoes, clothing, food, hydration, etc. If you’ve been considering joining a Saturday run but aren’t sure you’re ready, we can talk about that too. We’re also happy to share our favorite local runs.
This session will start from Shanahan Ridge Trailhead. To get to the trailhead, head west on Table Mesa Dr from Broadway. Make a left on Lehigh Street and continue towards the top of the hill. The trailhead is by the intersection with Lafayette Dr and parking is on the street.
Feel free to ask any preliminary questions in the comment section below. Lastly, no dogs on these runs.
Thanks!
Erich & Jeff
