Technical Trail Running 101

Details
For our second session in our Technical Trail Running 101 series we will start at 5:30pm from Chautauqua Park (by the ranger station).
During this session we will recap many of the techniques we discussed in our first session; and this time we will put an emphasis on staying alert and “in the zone” on long, technical, gradual inclines and declines. If you did not attend our first session, that is ok, you should still find the recap and this session’s focus to be beneficial.
These sessions are designed for anyone:
- new to the area
- new to running
- new to trail running
- not sure about joining one of our Saturday runs
- just wanting to get better and be more confident with running on steep and rocky terrain
Don’t worry about pace; don’t worry about experience. If you can run 3 or 4 miles you’ll be fine!
We will be doing an out and back heading up towards the Mesa Trail with gradual climbing, rolling hills, and a mix of surface types.
The techniques we will be working with you on are outlined in this article: Technical Trail Running 101. Please review this beforehand and bring your questions!
To get to the trailhead, head west on Baseline Rd. to Grant Pl., which is just past 9th St. The entrance to the park is on your left. As you enter the park, take the first right into the parking lot.
Remember to bring water and please no dogs on this run.
Thanks!
Jeff & Erich
