Chilled Out Walks are social events for serious hikers and weekend strollers alike, providing casually paced walks through Leeds most beautiful spots whilst making new connections and increasing fitness. We usually meet near Leeds Rail Station for easy access from Leeds and the wider West Yorkshire area then do a walk ending back in the city centre or at a pub/cafe with public transport options back into Leeds.
13:00 is the time we will set off so please aim to arrive for 12:45 or earlier. If you are running late, let Kris know before 13:00 and we can hold the group back a few minutes. Due to members no showing in the past, if we don't see or hear from you by 13:00 we will assume you won't be attending.
This event was semi-legendary last year for just how gorgeous the route is plus the lovely weather we had (and hopefully will have again!). We're doing another canal walk but this time heading east. This section of the canal is highly varied with a mix of towpaths, multiple bridges and paths. As we get out into the country we will take a left hand turn and go up to Skelton Lake for food, drinks and a rest. Then, we will do the final leg of the walk along the canal up to the picturesque village of Woodlesford where we can get a train or bus back to Leeds.
The route is 7.5 miles in total, 5 miles to Skelton Lake Services and a further 2.5 miles to Woodlesford. If you would like to cut the route short there are busses back to Leeds from Skelton Lake Services however keep in mind the park-and-ride busses no longer run on a Saturday, you would need to get a normal bus service. Thankfully this route is on almost completely level ground, so even though its quite long its easy going, and as always the pace will be kept relaxed.
Depending on demand we might end up getting a drink either in Woodlesford or when we arrive back in Leeds.
Weather dependant. If severe rain is expected, this event will be delayed to a later date, or the start time changed. Check back here before setting off.
