What is Dallas Urbanists?
We are an advocacy group in Dallas, Texas composed of people who care about making our city a better place to live, work, and play for everybody. Our group aligns with the New Urbanism movement, and we are an instance of what Strong Towns calls a "Local Conversation", whose purpose is to connect nearby, like-minded advocates to put Strong Towns ideas into action where we live.

See all- Social Bicycle RideThe Meteor Dallas, Dallas, TX
The Design District is turning into one of Dallas' more interesting areas, but did you know you can get to all the top spots on a bike or scooter, without ever riding on Irving Boulevard? Join us for a casual roll through the district, exploring a network of trails and low-traffic streets. We'll look at recent and upcoming bike infrastructure projects in the area, see a few gaps in the network, and take at least one obscure shortcut.
This is a great opportunity to meet fellow urbanists in the neighborhood and enjoy a chill evening on two (or better, 1–10) wheels. We’ll wrap up the ride with some delicious ice cream at Jeni's in Victory Park.
The ride will be roughly 13km/8mi long. Here's the tentative route.
What to Bring
- A bike, scooter, etc. All wheels welcome.
- A helmet
- Lights (recommended, since we'll finish after dark)
Getting there
I'd recommend riding to The Meteor. It's an easy ride from DART Victory Station or the Katy Trail, thanks to the new Hi Line Connector. Here's my recommended route. Zoom in and you'll see bike parking, the blue P with a tiny bike symbol. I'll try to be there by 5:45. Look for the guy with the skateboard.Image credit: ELÍAS VALVERDE II / STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER / THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS

We are people who care about making Dallas a more walkable, bike-friendly, transit-oriented, affordable, and vibrant place to live. As a Strong Towns Local Conversation (STLC), we are part of the Strong Towns movement to replace America’s postwar pattern of development, the "Suburban Experiment," with a pattern of development that is financially strong and resilient. We advocate for neighborhoods of all sizes in Dallas to be safe, livable and inviting.Ready to officially be a Dallas Urbanist? Become a member today!
