The Chicago Women's Creative Collective (CWCC) was founded in 2012 by Creative Podcast Producer Andrea Klunder as a small group of multidisciplinary women and women-identified artists who wanted to test drive our work with women from diverse perspectives (i.e. not just other writers reading what we write or artists critiquing each other’s paintings...)
We have been evolving over the years into our current focus on supporting women creating content that makes a difference in the world. As of summer 2018, our group is undergoing some behind-the-scenes shifts to align with that mission.
I believe the magic formula for a satisfying creative life & work style is: Self-Awareness + Self-Expression + Intentional Community.
So together, we create a forum for creative expression as an extension of who we are, making artful content within the context of community, and having a social network for fun WHILE amplifying and elevating our work!
Co-Working sessions around Chicago to get out of your home studio and stay focused
Plus socials, member events, online chats and more.
This IS a place to share your creative work and invite us to become a part of it AND IT REQUIRES participating in, witnessing, and engaging with other members' work in return. This is NOT a place to spam members with self-promotion if you are not actively building toward a mutual supportive relationship.
Creating content (blogs, podcasts, videos, writing, visual art, photography, social media etc) can be more effective and enjoyable when there is a collaborative component -- if even only through having others witness your process as it unfolds -- rather than creating alone in a vacuum of isolation, where self-doubt, uncertainty and overwhelm can sometimes threaten to shut you down. We also believe that by sharing your process, not just the end product, you can inspire others to make their own work, risk vulnerability and take creative action.
Membership is open to all women and women identified who want to express their voice & share their talents and support others in doing the same. As of summer 2018, this group is free to join and many of our events have a fee to attend. Full disclosure: This may be shifting to a paid membership in the near future with free events.
