DCC's "Monday Moves" to the Pentagon and Air Force Memorial, Georgetown, and Various Points of Interest. Join DCC and Conte’s Bike Shop Navy Yard, for a fun ~26 mile ride to the Titanic Memorial, The Wharf, Hains Point, Long Bridge Park, 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, Air Force Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial (via Arlington Blvd Trail), Georgetown University, Georgetown neighborhoods, The Kennedy Center, Constitution Gardens, The Mall, the Dwight D. This will be our second (and possibly last) meeting on *Nature's God: The Heretical Origins of the American Republic*, by Matthew Stewart. For this meeting, please try to read chapters 4 and 6. (You can skim chapter 5, which is particularly confusing). **Where did the ideas come from that became the cornerstone of American democracy?** America’s founders intended to liberate us not just from one king but from the ghostly tyranny of supernatural religion. We will be playing **The Castles of Burgundy**, the classic award-winning game by Stefen Feld. We have multiple copies of the game. The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
