LIVESTREAM | Trapped Travel Plans: Turning “Stuck” Into a JGOOT Success Story
Click here to attend: [https://www.jgoot.com/livestreams](https://www.jgoot.com/livestreams) Some trips are wide open. Some are already locked in. Weddings. Funerals. Cruises. Family reunions. You get the idea. The mistake is thinking the opportunity is gone. It’s not. In this special session, JGOOT travel experts Julie and Mira break down what actually happens after a trip is already planned—and how the JGOOT skillset still applies. Because the truth is: With the right tools, skills, and mindset… any trip can be a JGOOT trip. It’s time for: **Trapped By Travel Plans: How to Turn a “Stuck” Trip Into a JGOOT Success Story.** Julie and Mira will walk through how they think about fixed trips, where the hidden opportunities still exist, and how to make smarter moves even when everything feels set. Inside this session, you’ll learn: • How to approach a fully planned trip without starting over • Where to still find value when your dates and destination are locked • How to use points, cash, and perks after your main plans are set • How to shift from “I’m stuck” to “I still have leverage” This isn’t about perfect timing. It’s not about catching the lowest price. It’s about understanding that the JGOOT skillset doesn’t turn off once you plan. It keeps working. And when you know how to use it, even a “locked-in” trip can become a win Click here to attend: [https://www.jgoot.com/livestreams](https://www.jgoot.com/livestreams)

Monday Moves-- University of Maryland/ Lake Artemesia
Lake Artemesia and Univ. of MD DCC's "Monday Moves" to Lake Artemesia and the Univ. of MD Join DCC and Conte’s Bike Shop (Navy Yard) for a fun ~35 mile round trip that includes the Univ. of MD and Lake Artemesia. Depending on the day, we also ride this route in the reverse direction. Starting from Conte’s, we ride across the Fredrick Douglas Bridge and along the Anacostia River Trail to the Northern Branch Trail with a stop at the Bladensburg Water Front Park. We take the Northern Branch Trail to College Park, where we ride through the Univ. of MD. Campus and then on to Lake Artemesia. We return to DC straight down the Anacostia River Trail. This ride will be geared towards our newer riders (with a chill pace and no one left behind), but all are welcomed. The ride is on streets, trails and sidewalks. There will be a safety briefing to help riders become more comfortable with riding in groups. We will meet at Conte’s Navy Yard Bike Shop at 10 am and depart at 10:15. All riders should bring their own hydration and nutrition, as well as a spare inner tube. *** Please, no music that can be heard by other riders or ear headphones that impede your hearing. Parking is limited at the Navy Yard, so for those driving, an option is to park at Anacostia Park (aquatic center) and take 11th street bridge to M Street, then a left on 4th. ****all riders ride at their own risk**** If there is a chance of inclement weather expected on Monday, a cancelation notice will be posted by 9:00 pm on Sunday; otherwise, the ride will take place. Billy Goat and Gold Mine Trails (challenging and scenic)
Billy Goat and Gold Mine Trails (challenging and scenic)
This is one of my fav hikes that combines very scenic valley and river views. We'll start with the Gold Mine trail which runs along the bluff above Great Falls. We'll then hike the Billy Goat A trail, which is one of the most scenic hikes in Maryland. A large part of this hike is scrambling over boulders and rock faces. It is a challenging hike that has very scenic views of the river. The total distance will be 6 miles with about 500 feet of elevation gain. We'll hike at a slightly faster pace, and it should take about 3.5 hours. This hike is not for beginners. Please only RSVP if you hike or walk at least 6 miles per week at a faster pace. If you can't keep up, we will leave you behind, so it's your responsibility to know the route and how to get home on your own if you have to. After the hike, we might go grab a bite at Fish Taco, 7945 Macarthur Blvd, Cabin John, MD 20818 Parking: \-\- The closest place to park is in one of the small lots on the left side of MacArthur Blvd directly across the street from Old Anglers Inn\. But these lots are often full\. \-\- The best place to park is on the street on Stable Lane\. Stable Lane is just past Old Anglers Inn on the right\. \-\- You will also see a lot of cars parked on MacArthur Blvd even though there are "No Parking" signs\. I've never seen anyone towed or ticketed for parking on MacArthur Blvd\, but you're on your own there\. Note that this event is cross posted with the Fast and Fun Hikers meetup group. Hope you can join us! \*\*\* IMPORTANT \*\*\* BY ATTENDING THIS EVENT, YOU AGREE TO THE LIABILITY WAIVER, INDEMNIFICATION, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS ([https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z39AGebAVz9c-3S4zf3tj4Eb7V9k3PrH/view](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z39AGebAVz9c-3S4zf3tj4Eb7V9k3PrH/view)) (revision 12/1/22). Their goal: the first all-female ascent of the Southeast Ridge of Cerro Torre in Patagonia. This legendary line, on the world’s most beautiful mountain, is full of exploits and controversies. While this movie reveals an extraordinary achievement, it also explores questions about the place of women in mountaineering and the dreams they are entitled to pursue. Are there still gender-related limits in a discipline where everyone risks their life ? **Chery On The Cake** *Based on the original work by Josh Lowell (Reel Rock), directed by Léopold Renié and Cyril Salomon* Length: 55 min Embark on the Kamak ship, bound for Greenland and its pristine cliffs, following our favorite Belgians: **Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll**, **Nicolas Favresse**, **Jean-Louis Wertz**, and their newest Swedish recruit **Aleksej Jaruta**. After 2 weeks of sailing between storms and icebergs, the quartet sets up their base camp at the foot of the Mythic Cirque, a unique spot surrounded by rocky towers rising from the sea. Their goal: establish dream lines on these untouched summits, armed with their musical instruments. An ode to adventure and friendship! **Why I Fly** Director: *Jean-Baptiste Chandelier* Length: 4 min With a nod to E.T. and Peter Pan, **JB Chandelier** offers an intimate and moving film, a true visual ode to freedom. Renowned for his impressive proximity flights, the paraglider reveals, through a highly poetic style, the sensations he experiences while flying. But above all, he reflects on the wounds that have shaped his life choices. An invitation to listen to our inner voice, the one that pushes us to achieve our dreams and live our lives to the fullest! **Queen Swing** Director: *Thibaut Marot* Length: 53 min In speed climbing, it’s all about timing. 24 hours is the time **Kate Kelleghan** and **Laura Pineau** gave themselves to complete the Triple Crown, the three major big-walls of Yosemite: El Capitan, Half Dome and Mount Watkins. An insane bet: three big walls, over 2,000 meters of extremely difficult climbing. For this challenge, never before attempted by an all-female team, risk-taking, determination and complicity will be the keys to success!

We'll hike 3.4 miles on the Killdeer and Yellowlegs Trails - both out and back gravel trails. If we want more mileage we can repeat an out and back. Pace of around 3.5 mph, no one left behind and those who want to go faster sure can! As always optional lunch after. This is the second Metro Park in the lineup for me - with 21 to go (plus more are being added).
