It's all about authentic connections in an uncomplicated and informal setting.
You can see past events here: https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/?type=past
Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. This group is a convergence of people and cultures.

Everyone should always feel welcome to join disregarding from their ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, age, language skills, gender identification, sexual orientation, background, ability, income, social status, or any other arbitrary trait.
From September 2024, we have a yearly membership fee to join our events. The membership fee is not expensive and gives access to all events + exclusive perks! There's so much more value to members than having an event fee. We guarantee keep organising plenty of events and the fee is refundable if the group closes down or if there are no events for more than three months. You can attend the first event for free and take a look!

We are the biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta…
…and we invite you to join us for this WRITERS' CLUB! Writers of all kind, experience, and genre are most welcome!
Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle.
Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.
ABOUT THE EVENT
What's one of the most difficult part in writing? Getting high-quality feedback. This WRITERS' CLUB wants to address exactly that point. Plus, writers will have the chance to be part of a friendly community and a support system for fellow creatives. We want to help and elevate each other!
This is what we will do: We will meet at the indicated time (please don't be late) and everyone who wishes to can drop their name on a box for a lucky draw. One person is selected by chance and will need to have a text of any kind (poetry/fiction/non-fiction/essay/article/script/blog/music lyrics/whatever!) ready to share with everyone on a Google drive folder.
Then everyone will take their time and read the piece(s) on their own. We allocate about 30-60 minutes quiet reading time. Readers will take notes on what they wish to give feedback to. The author is also welcome to brief readers on what they should pay attention to or give feedback on.
People who wishes to be there as readers only (that is, without putting their name in the lucky draw box), are most welcome to! The crucial part is that everyone needs to be respectful of each other's craft and give polite, constructive feedback!
After reading time, there is the feedback time! For about 60 minutes, we will discuss what we have read, and give feedback to the author.
Sounds easy, fun, and productive? It is. Everyone will have the chance to learn something new! This event doesn't require any preparation! We will read and give feedback on the spot.
Don't be late as we need to start this event together, and please do update your RSVP at least 24h before the event if you cannot come, else you will take away a spot from a person in the waitlist. Don't be that persons! Repeated no-shows will be kicked from the group.
It's the first time we organise this kind of event! Show up and help shape this event. Or just join next time - newbies are always welcome.

ABOUT THE EVENT
The idea is very simple: we will meet and discuss the book. Please reach out to the host to receive your free PDF and feel free to ask any question in the discussion section of the event page.Everyone is encouraged to read the short book (in English, about 170 pages) beforehand to participate to the discussion. Coming without having read the book is possible, but it's just half the fun.

Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ask questions to the group. This event is introvert friendly! No one will be put on the spot or forced to speak. Just join and share your passion for literature, no matter how much you read.
This is a dream event for anyone who wishes to take a deep dive into literature and have a fun, social lunch time.
About the book
In a world where conformity suffocates individuality and freedom is traded for the illusion of order, Yevgeny Zamyatin’s We emerges as a hauntingly prescient dystopian novel that challenges the very essence of what it means to be human. Written in 1920, this groundbreaking work—often considered the precursor to Orwell’s 1984 and Huxley’s Brave New World—paints a chilling vision of a totalitarian society where the individual is erased, and every thought, action, and desire is subordinated to the collective will.We is not merely a story; it is a philosophical gauntlet thrown at the feet of complacency.
Join us for a discussion that aims to unravel the layers of Zamyatin’s masterpiece, exploring its relevance in our increasingly surveilled and standardized world. This is your invitation to question, to resist, and to tell the world that you're not just another number in a sea of data.

Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle.

ABOUT THE EVENT
So, how quickly can you come up with creative ideas in writing? Let’s give this brain gymnastics a shot!We will meet for a circa 2-hour session at Magia Coffee for our creative writing challenges. The writing challenge is as follows:
- Prepare your writing kit (pen and paper, notebook, laptop, phone … take your pick)
- The theme for the writing challenge will be different in each session. (For example: “FOOLS". You can refer to anything you like, from April’s Fools' Day to simply feeling silly for doing something.)
- You have ONLY 30 minutes to write anything based on that theme, whether it’s a poem, a flash fiction, a short story, or just a rant.
- After 30 minutes, gather and start sharing what you have just written. (This is, of course, OPTIONAL for those willing to do it.)
Just show up and dive into the challenge. Everyone will be working on their own thing, and we won't talk during writing. You’ll surprise yourself with what you can do in such a short time.
After the sharing session, you’re welcome to resume your writing mode or simply hang out and chat about writing or anything related. We can also share each other's texts and give feedback, if that's something someone would like to do.
