What we’re about

We are the biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta...

...and we invite you to join us! Everyone is always welcome.

Jakarta Creatives is the community to explore, practice, or enjoy all forms of art and creativity in Jakarta. We do book swaps, karaoke nights, writing sessions, enjoy poetry together, watch movies, do photography walking tours, and much more! It's all about authentic connections in an uncomplicated and informal setting.

You can see past events here: https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/?type=past

Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. This group is a convergence of people and cultures.

You might want to check out the group Jakarta Friends, too!

Over the past 3 years, with Jakarta Creatives & Jakarta Creatives we have had over 250 events with about 2,500 attendees! Everyone should always feel welcome to join disregarding from their ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, age, language skills, gender identification, sexual orientation, background, ability, income, social status, or any other arbitrary trait.

From September 2024, we have a yearly membership fee to join our events. The membership fee is not expensive and gives access to all events + exclusive perks! There's so much more value to members than having an event fee. We guarantee keep organising plenty of events and the fee is refundable if the group closes down or if there are no events for more than three months. You can attend the first event for free and take a look!

Feel free to **join the group Jakarta Friends: https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/** With Jakarta Friends we play board games, talk business, socialize, eat and drink together, do language exchanges, explore the city by walking and culinary tours, and much more!

We look forward to meet you at a next event!
Corrado & the team of co-organisers

JakCre and JakFri is THE biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta…

...and we invite you to join us for this FUN WRITING CHALLENGE Vol. V

Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle.

Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.

ABOUT THE EVENT
So, how quickly can you come up with creative ideas in writing? Let’s give this brain gymnastics a shot!
We will meet for a circa 2-hour session at ngoepi in Cilandak for our creative writing challenges. The writing challenge is as follows:

  1. Prepare your writing kit (pen and paper, notebook, laptop, phone … take your pick)
  2. The theme for each writing challenge session will be different. (For example: “FOOLS". You can refer to anything you like, from April Fool’s Day to simply feeling silly for doing something.)
  3. You have ONLY 30 minutes to write anything based on that theme, whether it’s a poem, a flash fiction, a short story, or just a rant.
  4. After 30 minutes, gather and start sharing what you have just written. (This is, of course, OPTIONAL for those willing to do it.)

Just show up and dive into the challenge. Everyone will be working on their stuff, and we won't discuss it during writing. You’ll surprise yourself with what you can do in such a short time.

After the sharing session, you’re welcome to resume your writing mode or simply hang out and chat about writing or anything related. We can also share each other's texts and give feedback, if that's something someone would like to do.

We have organised this event before! Take a look here:

SHUT! UP! AND! WRITE! Vol. XXXIV ✍️ with Jakarta Creatives

Rasea, Fatmawati Raya No.33 A, RT.2/RW.5, Jakarta Selatan, ID

Hello, Jakarta Creative! Are you a member of Jakarta Friends yet?
Want to see pictures of past events? Take a look here! And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊

JakCre and JakFri is THE biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta…

And we invite you to join us for this SHUT! UP! AND! WRITE! Vol. XXXV

Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle.

Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.

    ABOUT THE EVENT
So, you want to write? Then shut up and write! Writing is 0.01% "inspiration" and 99.99% getting down to it.

We will meet for a circa 2,5 hour writing session at Kedai Rasea Haji Nawi, a cozy cafe and resto right at MRT Haji Nawi! It doesn't matter if you are an established writer or if you are picking up pen and paper for the first time.

Just show up, get down to it, and start writing. Everyone will be working on their own thing, and we won't talk during writing. If you need some prompt or suggestion on what to write, I'll be happy to give you some ideas.

After the circa 2,5 h writing session session, we will switch off our laptops and close our notebooks (but if you want to keep going, feel free!) and chill down. We can also share each other texts and give feedback, if that's something someone would like to do.

    The rules of the game:

    1. We aim to start together in order not to disrupt the process for everyone. Please be on time.
    2. No talking at the table during writing! After arriving at the table, we will focus on our own writing
    3. You can take as many breaks as you want of course

Don't be late as we want to start writing together, and please do update your RSVP at least 24h before the event if you cannot come, else you will take away a spot from a person in the waitlist. Don't be that persons! Repeated no-shows will be kicked from the group.

We have organised this event before! You can see a few past events here:

    ABOUT THE VENUE
Kedai Rasea is a cozy coffeeshop and eatery recommended by one of our members! Because the venue is not big and we want to sit together on a big table, places for this event are very limited and you are required to update RSVP aat the very least 2 h before the event if you cannot join!

    • Let's meet directly there! There will be tables prepared for us and a MeetUp sign on it
    • Find more about them and see their menu here: https://share.google/p8ROPNseKVsyKwncv
    • We encourage you to reach the event by public transportation MRT Haji Nawi is just 1 minute walk!
