This experience combines history, architecture, and world-class art — all within one of New York City’s most exquisite cultural institutions. *** ## 🏛️ **PART I — DOCENT-LED GROUP TOUR (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)** Our visit will begin with a **guided group tour** led by a Morgan docent, offering a rich introduction to: • The history and vision of J. Pierpont Morgan • The museum’s extraordinary architecture and historic buildings • Highlights from the Morgan’s renowned collections • The transformation of a private library into a world-class public institution This first hour provides essential context and storytelling, allowing us to fully appreciate the spaces and treasures we’ll encounter throughout the museum. *** ## 🖼️ **PART II — TWO RENAISSANCE MASTERWORKS IN FOCUS (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)** Following the tour, we will explore **two exceptional exhibitions**, each featuring a landmark painting on loan from Italy and shown in dialogue with the Morgan’s own collection. *** ### ✨ **Giovanni Bellini’s *Pietà* — Restored** For the **first time ever in the United States**, Giovanni Bellini’s early Renaissance masterpiece *Pietà* (ca. 1470) is on view, on loan from the Museo della Città in Rimini, Italy. After a comprehensive conservation treatment made possible by Venetian Heritage, Inc., the painting is presented in **J. Pierpont Morgan’s historic Study**, alongside Renaissance works from Morgan’s own collection — including paintings by **Hans Memling** and **Perugino**, and sculpture by **Antonio Rossellino**. This intimate presentation offers a rare opportunity to experience Bellini’s emotional power and technical mastery in a setting worthy of the work itself. *** ### 🍇 **Caravaggio’s *Boy with a Basket of Fruit* — In Focus** We will also visit the exhibition centered on **Caravaggio’s *Boy with a Basket of Fruit***, on loan from the Galleria Borghese in Rome. An important early work by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, this painting reveals the artist at a pivotal moment — blending Lombard naturalism with a radical new approach that would forever change Western painting. Two-part cultural evening for Art-full Members: Happy Hour followed by a Chinese New Year dinner featuring Flaming Duck, including a lion dance and a shared dish.

Still-Life Drawing for Middle School

Build a strong artistic foundation in this four-session Still Life for Middle School course. Designed for artists ages 11–14, the class focuses on essential drawing techniques including mark-making and drawing from observation, guiding students toward thoughtfully composed still life drawings. **Class 1:** Exploring Our Tools - Our first session will focus on exploring the full potential of our tools; from pencils and drawing materials to the most important tools of all: our eyes and hands. **Class 2:** Building up the Form - In the second session, we will study light and value, and learn how careful observation and rendering of values helps make objects appear three-dimensional. **Class 3:** Balanced Compositions - For our third session we will consider the principle of design, Balance. Students will be guided in creating their own Still-Life setup to draw from observation. **Class 4:** Final Touches — The final session is dedicated to strengthening newly learned skills through feedback and guidance from the teaching artist.

This willl be a 2 session seat weaving workshop. Saturday Feb 28 and Mar 07. choose one of our available vintage chairs or stool frames. plenty of colors and patterns to choose from. You will complete your project in two sessions. Lets build community through craft, skill sharing and fun. $150 includes all materials and both sessions.

Art X Fashion @ The Museum at FIT

Admission to the museum is free. This exhibition will be on display from February 19 until April 19, 2026. If you cannot attend the opening, please stop in and see the show at your convenience. Call ahead for hours. This exhibition is a comprehensive exploration of the symbiotic relationship between the world of fashion and fine art. Featuring more than 140 objects, including garments, accessories, textiles, photographs, and original artworks drawn from MFIT's permanent collection, *Art X Fashion* challenges the traditional hierarchies of visual culture, presenting fashion and art each as parallel, potent expressions of social, intellectual, and creative forces. Curated by Dr. Elizabeth Way, curator of costume and accessories at MFIT, the exhibition reflects MFIT's mission to advance the understanding and appreciation of fashion's critical role in culture. The core of *Art X Fashion* lies in its profound engagement with the eternal question: "Is fashion art?" The exhibition explores the ways that fashion has always been a partner, not a follower, of fine art, highlighting typically overlooked integrations throughout history.
