Instructions:
✅ Upload only ONE photo to the Session album AFTER you see the “Welcome …” photo slide (AFTER 5 pm on Sunday and BEFORE the day of the Sat/Sun of the Session).
✅ You must be attending in order for your image to be reviewed during a session.
✅ A maximum of 30 photographs will be considered for review as time and content allow.
✅ Following the sessions the albums will be deleted after 5 pm on Sunday. If you wish to save your image and comments move your photo to the PHOTOGRAPHERS OPEN FORUM album.

Ticket Link: Whitney Museum of American Art ticketing | Free Second Sundays. Tickets for the Whitney Museum on February 8 are not released until a month in advance.

Therefore, you will need to wait until the following month to find out when tickets will be available for that date.

The Whitney works very well as a winter photo venue, especially for graphic architecture and environmental portraits on the terraces. The building sits between the High Line and the Hudson River and features stacked steel volumes, external stairs, and multiple outdoor terraces with views downtown and along the river, giving you strong lines, layers, and sky in almost every direction.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Theme Challenge: Practice architectural and urban environmental portraits.
Use terraces, railings, and stairs as leading lines, placing subjects along the edges or in corners of the frame to emphasize scale and geometry.

Explore backlit and silhouette work on the terraces, exposing for the sky to create graphic outlines of people against the Hudson and Meatpacking skyline, or use reflections in glass doors for layered compositions.

NOTE: Personal, non-commercial photography is allowed in the public areas and permanent-collection galleries, but flash, tripods, and other professional equipment are not permitted.

Meeting Location/Event Hosts
Your hosts will be just inside the main entrance on Gansevoort Street on the ground-floor lobby near the cafe area. We will meet at 11:00 am.

Post-Event
If you are available, your hosts will meet you back at the Frenchette Café and Bakery, Floor 1 of the museum at 12:45 am.

PHOTO CHALLENGE
Once this Meetup event ends, we will create an album on the Photos page. Please post up to five (5) of your best photographs from the event before 7 PM (ET) on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

Eligible photos:

• Must be taken on Sunday, February 8th at the Whitney
• Must be posted before the deadline
• Must have a title
• Must NOT be sexually explicit or suggestive

This album will be reviewed. The winning image will become the permanent album cover of the event. The name of the winning photographer will appear in the album title.
