___________________________________________________________________________________ - Join Us on Our Walk through Green-Wood CemeteryThe Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY
Let's get together first to discuss this photo walk and then have a truly great time exploring the beautiful photo ops in and around historic Green-wood Cemetery. Keep in mind that this is still a functioning cemetery, so please familiarize yourself with the RULES and be respectful of the grounds, the grave sites, and the others who are visiting.
The cemetery was founded in 1838 as one of America's first rural cemeteries (yes, it was rural back then). It remains an active cemetery, as well as a cultural institution, and an outdoor museum with a rich history. Today, Green-Wood's 478 acres serve as the final resting place for over 570,000 permanent residents including some notable figures in history: Leonard Bernstein, Boss Tweed, Charles Ebbets, Jean-Michel Basquiat and many more!

We will have two groups that will have short routes to get us started, or you are welcome to find your own way through the cemetery!
- Paola will guide Group 1 heading right towards Tranquility Garden, Valley Water, and Sylvan Water, and possibly the Historic Chapel and John Matthews Monument.
- Joe will guide Group 2 heading left along Battle Avenue towards Battle Hill (the highest natural point in Brooklyn), Reservoir Hill, Leonard Bernstein's burial site, and the Egyptian Van Ness-Parsons Mausoleum.
There are many points of interest throughout the cemetery that can be easily located either by getting a map at any entrance, downloading the PDF MAP, or downloading the MOBILE APP.
