Exploring form, texture, and the relation between your hands and the material. We will learn how to shape different forms like bowls, plates or cups through basic handbuilding techniques. We'll also explore surface texture and finishing touches, which will bring character and presence to each unique piece you create. Your creations will be glazed and fired in the weeks following the session, and then be ready to be picked up!. We recommend coming dressed in clothes you don't mind getting messy, and keeping your nails trimmed short for the best experience with the clay. Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing through observation, instinct, and traditional methods in a winning combination. Focus will be on the main points of traditional drawing, such as structure, volume, shading, framing and composition as well as the human figure. Through a step by step program, you will learn how to bring what you see onto paper and how to finish with a completed chiaroscuro drawing. These skills are an essential foundation for further personal artistic exploration. MAIN POINTS OF THE CLASSES: • how to draw what we see • how to see lines and volume • proportions and shapes • how to do shading / chiaroscuro • how to use materials • how to sketch and define figures • work on different pose's lenght • how to apply all that you learn **DETAILED PROGRAM OF THE CLASS BELOW :** To begin, the students will work from Still Life and objects in order to learn how to bring what they see to the paper. The step by step program will go through the fundamentals of perspective, volume, proportions- all of the skills required to draw anything, whether it be still life, people, nature, or animals. The students will then begin working from the model. Students will learn how to identify the main driving forces and masses of the body. The 'bean' approach will help the students see the basic 3-dimensional structure of the body. With professional models posing under controlled lighting for shadows and contrast.

In this workshop, we will construct a simple pinhole camera, work with long exposures, and develop images using basic analog processes. No prior experience needed. All materials provided. Participants are welcome to bring small boxes, cans, or any objects that could be turned into a pinhole camera.
