5 day oil painting course for beginners
Mon, Sep 21, 8:00 AM**A Week of Oil Painting in Berlin: Five-Day Intensive** **21–25 September 2026 \| Monday–Friday** **10:00–17:00 \| Burnt Sienna Institute of Painting\, Berlin** **Course fee: €595 \| Solidarity rate: €480** Spend five immersive days developing your painting practice through a combination of focused studio work and guided museum study. Each morning, we will work in the Burnt Sienna studio from **10:00–13:00**, exploring oil-painting techniques, colour mixing, composition, observation and the development of personal ideas. The afternoons, from **14:00–17:00**, will be spent studying artworks in Berlin’s museums through looking, discussion, drawing and visual research. These studies will then be brought back into the studio and developed into paintings. The intensive includes: * **30 hours of guided tuition and artistic development** * Daily oil-painting sessions in the studio * Guided visits to major Berlin museums and collections * Museum drawing and visual-research exercises * Support developing ideas from sketches and source material into paintings * Guidance with composition, colour, paint handling and individual artistic direction * Group discussion, feedback and individual attention * Use of professional studio facilities * **All oil-painting materials included** * A small, supportive group with space for each participant to develop their own work The course is suitable for both newer painters and artists who already have some experience and would like a concentrated period in which to deepen their practice. Teaching is adapted to each participant’s level, interests and goals. Please bring a sketchbook and your preferred dry drawing materials. Participants are also encouraged to bring photographs, drawings or other visual references they may wish to explore. This is an opportunity to step away from everyday life and spend an entire week looking, drawing, painting and exchanging ideas within an immersive studio environment in Berlin.

Long Pose! Life Drawing & Portrait Painting @PAKD

We have one long pose - you can choose whether to draw several studies from different angles around the room, or take your time to do a single sustained drawing or painting in full detail. The pose is held for 20 minute intervals with five minute breaks in-between so the model to rest and stretch, and so artists can move between seats if they choose. We provide some materials such as paper, pencils & pastels for free. Canvases, brushes and acrylic paint can be purchased at the event. We hope to see you there very soon!
Museum and studio drawing course

Guided by artist Jane Haycock, participants will draw directly from artworks and museum collections before bringing their sketches back into the studio to develop them into more personal, resolved work. The course explores how copying, close looking and responding to existing artworks can open up new ideas and strengthen your own visual language. Sessions include visits to museums such as the Alte Nationalgalerie, Neue Nationalgalerie and Hamburger Bahnhof, alongside practical studio exercises and individual guidance. Suitable for all levels. The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa Chōisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingū) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history. The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha. **Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.
Painting Workshop - Oil Colors, Acrylics
Wed, Sep 16, 5:00 PMA 2.5 hours oil color - acrylics painting lesson. **About this course** This is a painting workshop with the goal of teaching people how to create paintings using either oil colors or acrylics. The total subject lessons consists of around **27 lessons** that last 2.5 hours each. You can join at any time during the course. On each lesson the first part will be about theory and exercise and the second one about canvas time. Each participant will have the chance to work on canvas and start making paintings as artworks. All materials are provided by us. Each lesson has a subject. We do not follow a particular order, and every lesson is actually unique and many times personalized. This means that every time the attendess will have to do something new and different. You do not have to paint on canvas and with the mentioned art materias, you can also choose to use any of your wish. Most of the observations and exercises work well with all art materials. It is suitable for beginners and or even professionals who want to rationalize the canvas painting process. It is being hosted by the visual artist [Miltos Despoudis](https://miltosdespoudis.gr/). **How much does it cost?** Check below: * 6 Lessons Packet (2.5 hours each) cost **120€.** Prepaid lesson tickets are valid for 6 months. * First lesson try-out costs **17€**. All of the materials are included within the ticket reservation **except the canvases.** You can paint anything on a canvas we will provide you free but if you want to keep the canvas you will have to purchase it at the same cost we bought it. Canvases range from 3 to 9 Euros. **How do I subscribe?** You need to reserve a spot here and come at the event. You can pay at the event. Please verify that you are attending so that we know and prepare accordingly with the art supplies. **What do I need?** Materials will be provided at the venue. You can also bring your own art supplies, it might be helpful to learn working with what you have.
