Drunken Philosophy: Is Philosophy practical or or just esoteric?

Welcome to Drunken Philosophy, a casual, curious, social discussion club. Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle. Not going to go real deep with this one. Most people generally consider philosophy as weird, esoteric ideas that don't apply to "real life." Of course we in this group know better--right? But seriously, do you consider the study of philosophy to be more of an intellectual exercise to challenge your thinking and attitudes or do you study it to learn valid, effective ways of thinking and acting to improve your "real life" and deal with your "real life"? I suspect that most people attending this group practice and consider their study to be a mix of the above. If that is the case, which direction do you lean and to what extent do you lean that way? Engage and welcome any new attendees!

Columbus Sketching Souls and Growing Minds

I would love to invite you to our next Columbus Sketching Souls and Growing Minds gathering. This is a relaxed, informal space for anyone who enjoys picking up a pencil or brush, regardless of whether you are a seasoned artist or just starting to experiment with drawing. We find that the best creative breakthroughs happen when we step away from our individual workspaces and spend time sketching in the company of others who appreciate the process of learning and evolving. We usually spend our time sharing techniques, talking about our current projects, and simply enjoying the quiet focus that comes with drawing together. The goal is to build a supportive community where we can grow our skills and share ideas without any pressure to produce a finished masterpiece. If you are looking for a friendly group to share your artistic journey with, please come by and join us. If you have ever been curious about the mechanics of juggling or want to get back into practice with a supportive group, come join us for our next session in Columbus. This is a relaxed gathering for anyone interested in the art of keeping objects airborne, whether you are picking up a set of clubs for the first time or you have been working on your three-ball cascade for years. We will spend the session sharing tips, troubleshooting patterns, and just enjoying the process of learning together. We welcome everyone regardless of skill level, and we are happy to help beginners get started with the basics. It is a very informal environment, so feel free to bring your own props if you have them, though we will have plenty of extras on hand for those who need them. This is simply a space to connect with other local enthusiasts and practice in a friendly, low-pressure setting. If you are planning to come by, please take a moment to RSVP so we can get an idea of how many people to expect. We look forward to seeing you there.

Shut Up & Write!™ Easton Town Center

We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator. Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session.
