Design Evenings LDN: The New Era of In-House Creativity

Design Evenings LDN: The New Era of In-House Creativity

Thu, Apr 23, 5:00 PM
From BrainStation London

In-house creative teams are redefining what great brand work looks like. This session explores how Monzo built a world-class creative studio from within, establishing clear creative vision, strong craft standards, and a talent model that allows creativity to lead, not just execute. Great in-house creativity depends on strong internal partnerships. Coral shares how Monzo’s studio works across marketing, product, and external agencies, building trust, designing processes that protect quality, and navigating organisational complexity without compromising creative ambition. **Event Overview** In this fireside chat, Coral Garvey, Creative Director at Monzo Bank, offers a candid look at building and scaling a high-performing in-house creative studio. **01 - Building a World-Class Creative Studio from Within** What it takes to establish the right foundations for an in-house studio, from defining creative vision and craft standards to designing talent architecture that scales. Coral shares how to move beyond a service mindset and build a team that leads creatively, not just executes. **02 - Making Creativity Work Across the Business** How strong in-house studios partner effectively with marketing, product, and external agencies. Learn how trust is built internally, how processes are designed to protect creative quality, and how to navigate organisational constraints without dulling creative ambition. **03 - Culture, Craft, and Scaling Without Losing the Edge** An honest look at the realities of growth, what breaks, what needs rebuilding, and how to maintain a safe, high-output creative culture as expectations rise. From early missteps to momentum-building moments, this is a behind-the-scenes view of creativity at scale. **Speakers** **Coral Garvey - Creative Director, Monzo** Coral Garvey is a multidisciplinary Creative Director from NYC, now based in London, working at the intersection of brand, product, and culture. She is currently Creative Director at Monzo, a leading global fintech bank, where she leads brand strategy and creative execution across design, writing, marketing, and product. Coral has been instrumental in building Monzo’s internal Creative Studio, establishing global brand systems, and directing integrated campaigns, product launches, and experiential work, while embedding brand thinking directly into the product experience and supporting international growth, including the US market. Previously, Coral was Creative Director at Depop, helping scale the platform into a global Gen Z cultural force, and Chief Creative Officer at Playground, an experiential Web3 platform. Her work spans global brands including Adidas, Diesel, and Under Armour, with a practice rooted in culturally driven storytelling and bold creative leadership.

Hampstead Heath Spiritual Gathering & Walk

Hampstead Heath Spiritual Gathering & Walk

Sun, Apr 26, 10:00 AM
From Spiritual Creatives
4.8

Our 43rd Spiritual Creatives gathering - in person! Come and join us for a lovely walk and talk around Hampstead Heath. We are meeting just outside Hampstead Heath station (London Overground train) at 11.00 on Sunday the 26th of April. Please note: This is NOT Hampstead Station on the Northern Line! It is the Hampstead HEATH station. The Google link is here: [https://goo.gl/maps/AJCNoxkKNj6K9Gp77](https://goo.gl/maps/AJCNoxkKNj6K9Gp77) We will wait for people to arrive until 11.15am and then we will begin walking. If you arrive later, you will only be able to catch up with us at Kenwood House approximately between 12 and 12.30pm. You should be able to find us sitting around as a group having a drink. If the weather permits, you'll find us outside the main café, towards the back. Look for the guy with the multicoloured scarf... that's me! After a short break of 20-30 minutes, we then walk back through the Heath, taking the long way round to Parliament Hill, and conclude our stroll back to Hampstead Heath overground station around 2 to 2.30pm. (Please note that you may become so involved in your conversations that you end up losing sight of the main group! Unfortunately, there is no way for you to catch up with us once we have become separated (and we do NOT check our phones for texts or messages during our walk) so please be mindful and conscious to stay with the main group if you want to keep up. Also please bear in mind that Hampstead Heath can be muddy sometimes, so please wear the appropriate shoes). After returning to Hampstead Heath Overground station, many of our (usually hungry) members like to continue the camaraderie over lunch at one of the local cafés or restaurants. As our group has grown over the years, these gatherings can be quite large, so we usually have to split into smaller parties and explore different venues. Some of our favourite spots are Dominique’s Café (dominiquescafe.co.uk) and Silverberries (silverberry.net), both of which offer a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. It’s a great way to wind down the walk and continue our conversations. Spiritual Creatives is a warm-hearted and popular meetup group, as you can see from our ratings and comments! We hope to meet you then! :-) Best wishes Cliff **Find out more about us at [https://www.spiritualarts.org.uk](https://www.spiritualarts.org.uk/).**

From THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS
4.8

**This event is full! [Here's the next one](https://www.meetup.com/thought-experiments-in-pubs/events/314193821).** A special event to share the creative practice of writing thought experiments. **In a nutshell, writing thought experiments creates opportunities to:** * investigate ideas (old and new) * work your imagination * write creatively and playfully * produce compelling conversation starters that you can share with friends and strangers to provoke great discussions Over the past 3 years, I've written over 200 thought experiments and learned a lot along the way. [Here's a bit more about why I enjoy the practice.](https://experimentsingroupwisdom.substack.com/p/writing-thought-experiments) **In this workshop,** I'll share my process and together we'll create new thought experiments by: * Identifying areas of interest * Gathering ingredients for thought experiments * Imagining scenarios * Constructing narratives * Generating relevant, thought provoking questions * Participating in a round of small group discussions - you can volunteer your new thought experiment, or if you'd rather, you can pick one out of the hat. **By the end of the evening** **we'll have** * had some thought provoking conversations * become familiar with a new method for creative thinking * written our own original material for future group discussions :-) Although we’ll be learning a new technique we'll also be aiming to have **an enjoyable evening, with good humour and fun**. This will be less like school and more like a fun TEiP night out with an additional creative twist. **Who should come:** Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the conversation. This group is not about being experts, it is about thinking creatively together and learning new ways to develop and communicate ideas. **Tickets** Space is limited to 15-20 people and tickets are £15. I'd like to make this event accessible, so if cost is a barrier, please send me a DM. **Where we'll meet:** The Fitzroy Tavern in Fitzrovia. The nearest Tube stations are Goodge Street and Tottenham Court Road. We'll be upstairs in the Private Dining Room. Looking forward to meeting & talking with you!
