DeepTech Talks BCN: From Applied AI Systems to Robotics at Scale

**From Applied AI Systems to Robotics at Scale** **Building Automation That Works in the Real World** DOORS OPEN: 18:30 TALKS START: 19:00 NETWORKING: 20:00 - 21:30 **Our Speakers** **Fabricio Carraro** \- Developer Advocate at Barcelona Supercomputing Center\, AI Specialist\, Author\, TEDx Speaker & Host of IA Sob Controle **Olivier Pommares** \- Logistics Account Manager\, ABB Robotics **Fabricio Carraro** \- AI Specialist \- Building\, teaching and scaling applied AI Our first speaker is a hands-on, multilingual AI specialist with a background in Computer Engineering, Data and Machine Learning, and a strong focus on making artificial intelligence more practical, understandable and useful across organisations. A published author in Brazil on Artificial Intelligence, Language Models and Prompt Engineering, he is also a TEDx speaker and the host of IA Sob Controle, one of Brazil’s leading podcasts on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. His work spans AI education, model fine-tuning, RAG systems, open-source projects and large-scale learning programmes designed to help people and organisations understand and adopt AI. He has fine-tuned Barcelona Supercomputing Center AI models for specific use cases, created an open-source RAG PDF Search project included in Google Gemma’s official cookbook, and helped design Alura’s Artificial Intelligence Immersion Week together with Google, a five-day online event that reached more than 300,000 people. In this talk, he will explore what it takes to build and communicate applied AI in ways that people can actually use. From language models and prompt engineering to RAG systems, model adaptation and AI education at scale, his session will look at the bridge between technical capability and real-world adoption. **Olivier Pommares** \- Robotics at scale: from automation concepts to production\-ready systems\. Olivier Pommares is a Logistics Account Manager at ABB Robotics, working at the intersection of robotics, AI-driven automation and large-scale industrial deployment. His work focuses on enabling the integration of robotic systems into complex logistics environments, combining hardware, vision systems, gripping technologies and software orchestration to deliver end-to-end automation. In his talk, Olivier will explore what it takes to move robotics from promising concepts into robust, production-ready systems that can perform in real logistics and industrial environments. As AI-based perception, adaptive gripping and autonomous workflows become more mature, the challenge is no longer just what the technology can do, but how it can be integrated, scaled and trusted in complex operations. His session will bring a practitioner’s perspective on deploying robotics at scale: from system integration and operational performance to the realities of working with logistics and retail companies where automation needs to deliver measurable value. **What’s In It For You?** Some of the most interesting work in deep tech today is happening at the point where AI stops being abstract and starts becoming infrastructure. Robotics systems that move through warehouses. Vision systems that interpret messy physical environments. Gripping technologies that adapt to real objects. AI models that need to be fine-tuned, explained, integrated and used by people who are not necessarily AI specialists. In this DeepTech Talks edition, we’ll explore two complementary sides of applied AI: robotics and automation in complex industrial environments, and the AI systems, tools and education needed to make artificial intelligence useful at scale. **Who Should Come?** * Robotics engineers, AI engineers and ML engineers * Data scientists and software engineers working with applied AI * Automation, logistics and industrial technology professionals * Product and engineering leaders working with AI-enabled systems * Deep tech founders and technical operators * People working across robotics, logistics, manufacturing, retail, AI infrastructure or automation * Anyone curious about how AI and robotics become real operational systems **Extras** We’ll have snacks and drinks. 🍷🍕 Come ready to meet engineers, founders, researchers, operators, data leaders and technology builders working on the next generation of applied AI and robotics systems. Spaces are limited, so grab your spot on Meetup while you can.
