Beat the Heat at Humorous Toastmasters!

Songwriting Club @ Funkadelic Studios
Sun, Sep 13, 11:00 PMJoin us every 2nd Sunday of the month for our Songwriting Club at Funkadelic Studios! Not a jam, but a unique event, cultivating intentional songwriting, and fostering collaboration between artists. All attendee's full participation is key. Attendees can expect an engaging experience starting with some ensemble games to wake up our creativity and collaboration before being divided into small "bands". Each band will have two hours to collaboratively craft a song, choosing to use (or ignore if you wish!) creative prompts. The goal is to leave with a voice memo demo and the contacts of your new collaborators so you can choose if you'd like to continue working on your song! We are excited in 2026 that it will culminate in an end-of-year performance. Come in with nothing but your instrument! If you do not want to carry an instrument, the Studio provides guitars and bases for rent for $5 an hour. $10 Attendance fee at the Studio

Skip the Small Talk Night at Bibliotheque NYC
Wed, Sep 9, 11:00 PM**###PLEASE NOTE: Even if you RSVP on Meetup, you will need to grab a ticket here https://www.skipthesmalltalk.com/store/skip-the-small-talk-night-at-bibliotheque-nyc-wednesday-september-9-2026 in order to attend###** This event is cross-posted so Meetup RSVPs won't accurately reflect the actual number of attendees; typically there are around 30-40 people in attendance.**What's It Like?** Do you wish you could have more of the kinds of conversations you have late at night where for some reason, you feel safe talking about the things you actually care about? Bring your friends (or come by yourself- most people do!) and spend your Wednesday night at an event where you know everyone else is there for the same reason. We'll be offering 'big talk' conversational prompts on them to get you started, and we'll have lots of structure to make sure that you actually talk to people and that it's not awkward. There will be food and drinks for sale! **There is a 2 drink/food item minimum purchase for this event,** so please keep that in mind. **Check-in** for this event will begin around **6:45 PM**. Please do your best to arrive before 7:00 PM so we can begin as close to on time as possible. Skip the Small Talk is dedicated to providing an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone.
