Enjoy the View and Humor Too!
Wed, Sep 23, 10:30 PMFall is right around the corner, and cooler weather is on its way. But do not despair, because this time of year is a perfect time to get out, enjoy the refreshing temperatures, and flex your humor muscles. Humor requires practice, and at Humorous Toastmasters, we are all about practicing and perfecting our use of humor. Our meetings follow a hybrid format, so you can participate either virtually over Zoom or at our unique and beautiful meeting location of Pier 57, where in addition to a wonderful night of camaraderie and fun, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the Hudson River from the Pier 57 Rooftop by taking the elevator either before or after the meeting. So please register for and come to our next meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd from 6:30 – 8:00! Come early, enjoy a bite to eat from one of the dining establishments at the Pier and soak up some rays before heading downstairs to the Oyster classroom for our meeting. Pier 57 (address below), located in Hudson River Park near Chelsea Piers. Please follow the directions for the Oyster classroom. Pier 57 is a dynamic and vibrant location, only minutes from both the Little Island as well as the Chelsea Market, with a plethora of dining options. In addition, Pier 57 has several excellent options for a bite to eat. Check out their website for more info: [Home - Pier 57 - NYC - Hudson River Park](https://pier57nyc.com/) We hope that you can make it in person, but if you can't, you can still join us over Zoom. To attend the meeting, please register using the following link: [Register Here](https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMsdemrrTMjH9Xb-tf8eZDdKPzudpmZ3TNB) We are unique among New York Toastmasters clubs in that in addition to the typical Toastmasters meeting segments such as prepared speeches, Table Topics and speech evaluations, we also offer an Improv segment that is lots of fun and which everyone can participate in. And we recently added a Humor Tip of the Day, which will make you instantly funnier! **Meeting Details:** 📍 Location: Pier 57 (Oyster Classroom), 25 11th Ave, New York, NY 10011 Directions: By Subway, take the A, C, E or L train to 14th Street. Gotham Go Group - Tuesdays at the Hungarian
Tue, Sep 22, 9:00 PMEvery Tuesday evening from 5 - closing. All are welcome, from beginners to pros. We usually have 8-15 players show up. This is a casual coffee house environment so don't expect a Go tournament kind of silence, but rather a din of conversation that is probably the vanguard of intellectual New York. Absolutely free, it costs nothing to play, and there is nothing to join. But PLEASE do get a drink, dessert or both to support the good folks at the Hungarian Pastry Shop who so graciously allow us to use their storied and humble space. We have some boards and stones, but it never hurts to bring your own.
