Yoga for Queer People
Sun, Oct 4, 8:00 AM**Yoga sessions celebrating queer joy, self-love, and good energy. Bring a towel or a mat and flow with us.** Join us on the first Sunday of each month for a yoga practice held specifically for Queer folks. No need to translate, hide or shrink any part of yourself to be here. Much of what gets called "yoga" in the West has quietly inherited rigid, binary, body-policing ideas that have little to do with the tradition's actual roots. This class moves through āsana, breath and a bit of philosophy, in a group where Queerness is the default. All levels welcome. No prior practice, flexibility, or "yoga body" required. After practice, you’re invited to grab tea/coffee/cake + hang out, talk, connect, build friendships and more. The inspiration to connect beyond the mat comes from the beautiful Yoga Community Project created by Matti in London. If you’re also longing for community here, come be part of this. This practice is donation based, on a sliding scale from €5-€10. You may donate via Bizum, bank transfer or in cash after the practice. Due to systems of oppression, we find ourselves financially in different places in our lives. When making a donation, we encourage you to reflect on the privileges or lack of privileges you have and consider the opportunities or lack of opportunities that society, systems, policies, and structures have afforded you based on your caste, race, gender identity, class, sexual orientation, and body ability. En nuestro interior conviven multiples "Yoes", pequeñas partes que piensan, sienten y desean cosas diferentes e incluso contradictorias. Cada uno tiene su propia voluntad, pero ¿es esa la verdadera voluntad? Si aspiramos a desarrollar una voluntad consciente, estable y orientada hacia el crecimiento interior, primero necesitamos conocernos, Observarnos y integrarnos. Ese es el propósito del Cuarto Camino. Esta enseñanza transmitida por G.I. GURDJIEFF y desarrollada por autores como P.D. OUSPENSKY y MAURICE NICOLL, propone un trabajo práctico de transformación basado en la Observación de uno mismo y el Despertar de la Consciencia. "El hombre que no tiene un "Yo", no tiene voluntad, no puede hacer" G.I.GURDJIEFF. En esta charla introductoria exploraremos estas ideas y abriremos un espacio de diálogo, preguntas y reflexión compartida.
