Madison Skeptics Pages

The Madison Skeptics are an eclectic group of people who share an interest in science and reason as a means of knowing the world. The modern skeptical movement advocates a provisional approach to knowledge and exploration of the natural world. It is the application of reason and critical thinking to any and all ideas — no sacred cows allowed. In other words, skepticism utilizes the methods of science.

Skepticism is the process of seeking a supported conclusion, not the justification of a preconceived position. The skeptical movement is comprised of people who raise doubts about certain beliefs because the evidence for those beliefs is weak or lacking. Skeptics are generally concerned about issues such as scientific literacy, education, public health and human rights.

The Madison Skeptics welcome all rational truth seekers regardless of age, gender, religious or political views, sexual orientation or any other distinguishing factor. Participating in discussions at our meetings may prove hazardous to irrational views.

We look forward to seeing you at a meeting or online!

"Man is a credulous animal, and must believe something; in the absence of good grounds for belief, he will be satisfied with bad ones."
--Bertrand Russell
