Movies in the Courtyard (Jurassic Park) @ Riffraff Bookstore!!

Quick Note: We're posting this up early, so we can't see the weather. Since this is an outdoor event, the bar will reschedule if there's inclement weather. We will have a backup plan just incase, so please check the post before heading out on the day especially if you see rain in the forecast :)

Quick Note Number 2 lol: The venue has limited outdoor seating in the courtyard, so we recommend bringing a chair or blanket with you unless you don't mind sitting on grass or pavement.

Hey everyone! This will be a bit of a blast from the past for some of us who knew each other in the old meetup, these events were a huge hit in the pre covid era. A couple of us we're going down memory lane and someone mentioned this old haunt of ours, so I decided to check it out again. Riffraff Bookstore is still doing their Movies in the Courtyard series! This month's selection is the original Jurassic Park (which thank God for spellcheck because I keep misspelling as a type this for some reason lol), so let's go enjoy a movie over a couple drinks.

If you've never been to Riffraff, you read correctly there is a bar, so don't worry we can enjoy our usual post work drinks as well as enjoy an outdoor movie. I also made the event picture of their bar just to make sure people know haha It's been years since I've stopped in, but Riff Raff made some fantastic cocktails and I'm sure that hasn't changed. Their house cocktails certainly lean in the crafty direction, but I'm sure they can also manage to serve the basics. There's also a solid beer selection on draft and in cans. They do have ciders, wine, and sake. Not sure on canned hard seltzer drinks. If you don't want anything alcoholic they have mocktails. Plus since it's a book store, they have a ton of coffee and tea options.

When it comes to food, it's limited so definitely try to eat beforehand. Not sure what the policy is on picnic dinners during the film. They do have cheese and meat boards on their snack menu, so I'm going to lean on no food going in just to be safe. If you'd like, feel free to check with the bar ahead of time.

The showtime is 8:30pm, so let's get there an hour early at 7:30. We'll try to stake out a spot depending on how busy it is and it will give us time to chat before the movie.

Please also keep talking during the film to a minimum volume/level. I'm sure there will be non meetup people near us, so we want to be respectful. The bar is located inside, so that would be a safe spot to have a louder conversation if you want to take a break from the movie.

Once the credits roll on the film, we'll likely head off somewhere else to continue the night. Riffraff is kind of in an awkward spot, there's not much right nearby. Troop is in the same plaza, so maybe we'll head there. We may need to split up and regroup rather than walk together. We'll figure it out on the night.

Riffraff is not only a locally owned bookstore. They also host literary/arts events regularly, so I'm looking forward to throwing them some support. Even if it's mostly bar sales haha If you're a bookworm, definitely check out their selection. They offer regular readings and author meet and greets you may want to keep your eye on.
