Details

Hey everyone!! It's almost Halloween, so let's check out a performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show! Our friend (and a regular of the meetup) Will is part of the cast and is playing Brad!!

TLDR Note: Please purchase tickets in advance, this likely mostly sell out closer to the day. Please purchase in rows J&K on the right. We'll try to stay together. Link for tickets can be found below. If that area if full, don't worry we'll regroup in the lobby after, we won't be talking during the show anyway. There are bars a short walk we can go to after. :)

Just a quick note: This is not a shadow cast like you normally see with Rocky Horror where the movie is played and people act out the scenes along with the film in silence. This is a full on stage performance of the film with the cast acting/singing their own roles! Because of that it's highly unlikely that audience will be using their own props like toast, newspapers, etc. so please don't bring any of that to the theatre if you're a Rocky Horror veteran. When it comes to shouting, it's better to air towards saying it's not allowed. I'm sure the cast will say something at the start of the show.

If you've never heard of Rocky Horror well it's a little difficult to put the plot into words. Young lovers Brad and Janet find themselves stranded on a isolated road after some car trouble. Looking for a phone to call for help, the couple stumbles on an intimidating gothic style manor in the midst of a strange gathering. Hoping to simply make a quick call and return to the car, Brad and Janet are introduced to Dr. Frank-N-Furter and are ushered upstairs to witness the culmination of the scientist's most recent experiment. What follows is a night of madness and some inappropriate fun.

The cult classic is a rock opera, and despite the name it's not intended to actually be a horror film. The movie doesn't take itself seriously and leans more towards a comedy/satire, but it does have some bangers when it comes to ballads. The film was a bit of a dud upon it's a initial release, but garnered a cult following in the years that followed. Rocky Horror Picture Show is the longest running film in theatres due to the regular shadow cast performances that encourage audience participation.

Another Note: If you never heard of Rocky Horror we recommend you take a look into the film before. There are some themes that some people may find not politically correct by today's standards (mainly the term transvestite is used). The film by no means mocks anything related to LGBTQIA+ issues, but we just want to make sure everyone feels comfortable at the show. The most famous song "Sweet Transvestite" is commonly played a Pride events. It's also sung poorly by Eddie whenever the group goes to Boombox haha

Granite Theatre in Westerly, RI is putting on the performance. Friend of the meetup Will is playing Brad, and he's said the cast for this show is fantastic. Be sure to purchase your ticket in advance. Let's try and stay together by purchasing tickets in the back right two rows (J&K). If we get separated it is what it is, we can regroup after the show. Tickets can be found at the link below.

Let's meet in the lobby half an hour before the show. There's a bar if you want to order a drink and bring it to your seat. It's limited mostly to canned drinks and wine. After the show there's bars a short walk away where we can hang out after the show!

Parking wasn't too bad in the past with plenty of side streets, but maybe budget a couple extra minutes just incase you need to walk over.

Please reach out to Eddie or leave a comment if you have any questions! Until then you'll have to shiver with antica....pation haha (song reference for newbies so I don't sound creepy XD)
