What we’re about
We are Noisebridge. Noisebridge is a hackerspace for technical and creative projects, do-ocratically run by our members. We are a non-profit educational institution intended for public benefit. Come and visit our space, a 5,000+ square-foot area located in the heart of San Francisco. We teach, we learn, we share.
Noisebridge has MOVED to 272 Capp Street, directly behind the old space, still between 17th and 18th streets in San Francisco's Mission neighborhood! It’s all very exciting, and we need your support to pull it off! Join Noisebridge in building the largest non profit hacker community in San Francisco. Our biggest needs are recurring donations and volunteer hours to work on buildout, setting up the electronics room, wood shop, machine shop, and so on. You can donate at patreon.com/noisebridge, and visit the space at 272 Capp Street during our open hours and events, for a tour or to work on your own projects!

Note: This is not for safety training! The assumption is that you're already familiar with safe practice while working with power tools. A brief review of safety practice as related to a specific tool will be provided for those whose project calls for use of the tool and who may need a refresher before using it. However, if you are unfamiliar with how to use power tools or for a complete novice to woodworking, we ask you take the time to learn basics from another person either at Noisebridge or elsewhere.
This class is best suited for those individuals who had a prior woodworking experience and have project in mind but don't know where to get started? This is a good time to come ask questions, get some help, and ideas from the instructor or your peers. Everyone is welcome, from those who have never stepped into a shop before, to seasoned pros. Come share your knowledge, and learn from others!
wWw are designated a meetup, and thus there won't be a guided project that everyone works on in parallel. A possibility of such a project in the future will be discussed with regular participants and the note about it will be posted within a week before we begin to work on it. It's best to come with specific questions, and have some scetches of your projects. If your prospective project is rather small and/or if you can't afford or don't have any materials for it, you can look through our scrap bin, before the meetup time. You might find just what you need to get started!
Things to bring (can be provided at the shop as well):
- PPE including ear plugs, gloves, eye protection, and a dust mask.
- An in-progress project, or an idea for a project in a form of sketches.
Noisebridge has a wide variety of shop tools, including but not limited to:
- Table Saw
- Miter Saw
- Belt Sander
- Wood Lathe
- Variety of hand tools
- Drill Press
- Planer
- Joiner
- Router Table
Should you decide to attend wWw, we will ask you for a donation to Noisebridge in the amount of $15-$20 to keep our not-for-profit community space up-and-running! See the donations page for details. (Venmo: @noisebridge)
