Sewing 213: Hacking Jeans Part 2- Mending and Amending

Details
Hacking Jeans, a series, part 2 is an intermediate class in mending and an intro in tailoring. It requires some machine sewing exprience.
This is part 2 in a series of 3 classes:
I Intro to mending jeans
II Tailoring jeans to fit or for fashion and intermediate mending
III Designing and creating ones own jeans
Types of things we may cover:
- Ways to bring in at the waist, hip, knee
- Adding material for more space or to size up
- How to make wide leg pants less wide.
- How to lift a waist band. How to hem.
- How to pin a hem for machine sewing.
- What to do if the crotch is worn out
- How to add a strip of material down the side.
This part 2 class is for folks with some sewing experience but may be of interest to folks who are beginners to sewing who would like to see some of the possibilities (note: we will not let you hurt yourself with the machines so tell us if you are a newbie!) or for intermediate sewing folks who may want to share techniques of their own.
Denim is a great fabric to learn a lot of sewing techniques on: It is practical and forgiving of mistakes. And it is easy with the right tools. We will go over some of cool tools that will help to make sewing on denim easier.
Bring jeans you want to mend but WASH them TWICE before hand since we will all be in a smallish room with not that much ventilation. If you have a sewing machine you would like help setting up for denim, bring it.
This class is on the 2nd floor, if you need accessibility accommodations contact the organizer at least 2 days before the class. There is a suggested donation to support Noisebridge, contact the organizer if you need or want a discount code. A portion of donations may go to support the retention of sewing teachers at Noisebridge.
