PixelPirate – one glowing dot sailing across the LED seas (CHM)

Details

The PixelPirate class brings adventure to an 8x8 LED matrix. Using a joystick as the helm, you control a single glowing pixel — your pirate ship — as it sails across the sea of LEDs. The class handles joystick input, updates the pixel’s position, and redraws the “pirate ship” on the matrix in real time.

Perfect for beginners, this class introduces how to:

  • Read and process joystick movement (up, down, left, right).
  • Translate input into pixel coordinates on an LED grid.
  • Prevent your pirate from sailing off the edges of the matrix.
  • Keep your code clean and organized for easy expansion (like adding treasure chests or enemies later!).

With PixelPirate, you’re not just moving a dot — you’re captaining a glowing ship on a tiny digital ocean.

Please bring a laptop if you have one.
