Drills and scrimmages on the Hudson. If you have not played with us before, please send a message the event host(s)! If you do not have a hand/paddle roll and are new to kayak polo, you can expect a reasonable chance of capsizing and needing to wet exit from your boat. We have a platform attached to the goal for boat re-entry, but be aware that you'll get wet, and surfaces that live in the water can be both slippery and sharp.
If the boathouse door is locked, you can knock or ring the doorbell to get in; please do not leave the door propped open, the boathouse has had some thefts in the past few years, and we need to take security seriously.
In addition to clothes that can get wet, bring soap and towel if you wish to shower afterward, and you may want sunglasses (+ strap) and a water bottle. Low-profile water shoes can also be good to protect your feet, especially if you think there's a chance you may end up capsizing and coming out of your boat. Otherwise, the club has all the kayak polo gear you'll need.
All players must have signed our annual waiver (contact the host for the link). The first two sessions are free to try, after which either a season ($300) or annual ($400) NYKP membership, or single-session fees ($25) are required.
