- Seasonal Scafell Xmas Walking Social and Challenge Weekend 2024YHA Wasdale, Cumbria£30.00
THIS WEEKEND IS NOW FULL - THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Wasdale Hall is a lovely venue and rarely available for exclusive use so why not have it for our last weekend away of the year.
To say this is a lovely venue doesn't do it justice, a truly beautiful mansion in its own grounds looking down onto Wast Water and up to Scafell it is just amazing.
This is our last party and walking weekender of the year and what a stunning location it is. Scafell, Scafell Pike, Great Gable etc etc etc all straight out of the front door. Amazing.
Saturday and Sunday we shall offer at least two walks on each day to satisfy those with inclinations for an easy pace and high degree of sociability as well as something tougher for our regulars who like it that way!
There will of course be a bonus walk Friday for those available for a midday start and general arrival will be 6pm +
All food is included throughout the weekend and vegetarians and other special dietary requirements will be catered for.
This is intended to be a sociable event all weekend so expect a bit of party music both nights and if you play a musical instrument or can provide some other entertainment for us feel free.
Help yourself breakfasts and packed lunches are provided as is hot and cold party food Saturday night but please bring desserts, cakes and other goodies to share as well as your own drinks. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Accommodation is single sex bunk rooms of a variety of sizes with full bedding provided but not towels.
We have run many successful weekends over the last few years but unfortunately recent changes by Meetup and Paypal have made our previous payment model increasingly difficult especially as we always try to keep our price as low as we can.
The cost will now be paid as a non-returnable deposit of £30 payable when you book via Meetup, to which must be added Meetup booking fees. The balance of £79 will be payable by BACS 12 weeks prior to the event being 13th September 2024.
Yes, we know the price is a joke for this quality of event but we want to maintain our low price for all the people that have supported us throughout the year.

Not open - Walking and Social Weekend in the Cleveland HillsYHA Osmotherly, Osmotherley£30.00
Having done so many UK trips away in recent years it is always great to explore somewhere we haven't been before especially when we can stay in a hostel to such a high standard as YHA Osmotherly .
The Cleveland Hills forming the Western edge of the North York Moors National Park were important industrially in ancient times, include a wild moorland section of the Coast to Coast walk and have many renowned walks and points of interest. There are no massive peaks which means it works well for everyone and is an ideal location for a late March getaway. Never fear, it is also suitable for one of our renowned "Challenge Walks" for those who love our Challenge Walk medals!
Friday arrival at our accommodation is from anytime after 6pm but we will lay on a bonus walk for those who can arrive in the area for likely 10:30am to ensure we make the best of the day.
We shall be rustling up a delicious hot meal for Friday night with vegetarian option and poached salmon alternative so no need to eat on the way and although we'll serve up about 8pm, there'll be plenty kept for those arriving a little later. If you require a bevy or three don't forget to bring this with you as it's a long way to the offy!
Help yourself breakfasts and lunch packups are provided as is hot food Friday and Saturdays night but feel free to bring desserts, cakes and other goodies to share as well as your own drinks. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Accommodation is single sex bunk rooms of a variety of sizes with full bedding provided but not towels. There are several two person rooms for couples based on a who books first basis.
Saturday and Sunday routes will be discussed with everyone on arrival to ensure we are meeting overall expectations but on this weekend there are many routes we could choose from so something for everyone.

- Amazing Easter Walking and Social Weekend in Arran 2025Lochranza Youth Hostel, Isle of Arran£50.00
Arran is a beautiful, magical Scottish Island, south of Glasgow so relatively short car journey, and easily accessible by low cost ferry trip from Ardrossan (£5 each way / £20 for cars). Arran has some splendid granite mountains, with beautiful ridges and fantastic sea views. As well as wonderful mountain walks and scrambles, there are great coast walks, and plenty of interesting things to see and do (ranging from standing stones, to visiting the lovely Holy Island).
More info at:
https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/arran/
Many say that visiting Arran is like seeing the whole of Scotland on a single Island. Beautiful.
Each year as soon as SYHA Lochranza on Arran becomes available for exclusive hire we attempt a booking as this is such a fabulous location and for 2025 our prayers have been answered as our exclusive hire booking has been accepted. Yes it is quite a way ahead, but that's what we have to do to secure such spectacular locations
Accommodation is included from Good Friday 18th April 2025 for THREE nights to Easter Monday 21st April 2025 but as long as you do so early enough it shouldn't be a problem to add extra nights before or after the weekend to make a longer break. We hope to be on the Island from around the 15th or 16th so plenty of scope to organise some extra walks and to get together for evening meals etc.
There will definitely be a walk on the Friday starting 11am latest, close to Brodick so participants can join the walk even if they are arriving on the morning ferry and a choice of walks on each of the other days of the weekend so something for everyone.
Goatfell is a must as is Caisteal Abhail, a lovely mountain with graceful ridges and fine sea and mountain views.

But there is loads to choose from at low and high level so genuinely something for everyone.
Accommodation is in single sex dormitory style rooms with all bedding provided but not towels. Food is provided from dinner on the Friday through to lunch packups for Easter Monday and we do cater for all the usual dietary requirements for which we issue a simple information request shortly before the event start date. As all our organisers and walk leaders are unpaid volunteers we are able to keep our prices amazingly low but this also means we need a small amount of help from each person attending to help with either meal prep or clearup for just one mealtime over the weekend which we manage via a kitchen rota.
The cost is paid as a non-returnable deposit of now £50 payable when you book, to which must be added Meetup booking fees. The balance of £129 will be payable by BACS 12 weeks prior to the event being 24th January 2025. Alternately you can avoid Meetup Booking Fees entirely by paying the whole amount of £179 by BACS at the outset. Please let us know if you are doing this and we will manually add you to the event attendee list.
