What we’re about
We love the outdoors and bushwalking, but it's the company that makes this group what it is.
Our ages range from late 20s to late 50s and beyond. This group is not suitable for young kids, however young people over about 12 who can manage the walks are very welcome.
Walkers should have "a reasonable level of walking fitness, and able to walk a minimum of 15km over variable terrain in a total of 4-5 hours (in the cooler months)".
Bushwalking is a winter activity in this part of Australia. The season runs from about April to October each year. We bushwalk regularly during those cooler months, sometimes overnight, or extended trips.
We limit numbers on walks. Please do not put your name on an Attending or Waiting List if you have no intention of coming. No Shows will be removed from the group.
You can find more information about us here:
Redtail Bushwalkers - information
We enjoy a cold beer and good discussion at the end of a day out, almost as much as being out there in nature.
If you're into the natural world, science, flora, fauna, or just simply enjoying the bush, then this may be the group for you.
Looking forward to meeting you!
* We're named after the Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo, specifically the local subspecies Calyptorhynchus banksii naso.

See all- Eagle View Loop - John Forrest National ParkJohn Forrest National Park, Hovea
It's a good time to do this one … lovely after some rains and the bush all green again 🌿
This 15km all on-track loop (Moderate hike)
(Please read all the event info before registering for this event esp. RSVPs !)According to Trails WA :
"Situated in the Darling Range, John Forrest is the oldest National Park in Western Australia and the trail passes through varied vegetation types, including heathlands, open wandoo woodlands and mixed jarrah marri wandoo forest.
The Eagle View Walk takes walkers away from the picnic areas, initially following Jane Brook. It then climbs to a point where hikers can admire the sprawling view of the Swan Coastal Plain. The trail then weaves its way up and down valleys, creek lines and hills before heading back to the Brook which it follows back to the main visitor's area. The 15 kilometre trail is marked in a clockwise direction. It's more challenging than other trails in the park, but…your efforts are well rewarded."⚑ Getting there

A great introduction to off-track walking.
Total walk distance is about 17km and mostly off-track with about 315m of uphill walking (not all at once) - rated as MODERATE.
(Please read all the event info before registering for this event esp. RSVPs !)According to WalkGPS:
"This walk is in the northern part of the beautiful Wandoo National Park. It offers very pleasant, easy walking through picturesque, open wandoo woodlands. This route is the one for those who especially enjoy the breathtaking woodland scenery to be found along the rocky ‘breakaway’ slopes flanking the laterite-capped hill-tops. About 25% (~4km) of the walk is along those slopes which also provide glimpses of several of the surrounding hills including Mt Observation, Helena Hill, Pony Hill and Mt Clifford. The route also crosses a few granite outcrops surrounded by sheoak thickets and passes several large boulders elegantly sculpted by nature."Photos from our last adventure nearby:
