The Left Hand of Darkness is one of those books that has achieved a kind of immortality. This is a science fiction book about people, and very real issues of gender, identity and communicating across barriers that people experience every day.

It is a story about prejudice and fear as well as friendship and perseverance. It is also a travelogue, taking us through the beautiful and brutal world le Guinn crafted for her tale to take place in.

We hope you enjoy this book and can join us to talk about it in April!

*We request that any person who signs up to attend this book club makes a good-faith effort to read the books we select each month. Given that our typical venues make it difficult for more than a dozen attendees to sit together and converse comfortably, we do not want anyone who takes the time and effort to read our books to have their spot taken by someone who did not.
