What we’re about
Our vision is to create a network of outdoors enthusiasts to share our adventures, to learn from, to have fun with, and to create life long friends. We hike in the Santa Monica Mountains. This is a non profit organization and we will be donating back to the community by having beach cleanups. Our group is also committed to protecting the special places we hike. Our new conservation effort seeks to protect threatened areas in the local mountains through fun and easy actions we can take. Have fun Hiking and hope to see you soon!

😀Sunday Funday😀 - Fern Truck Trail with View & Dinner After
Fern Truck Trail TH, 4543 El Prieto,, Altadena, CA, USCome join SMHC for our first 2026 hike as we return to Altadena to hike the Fern Truck Trail. A moderate hike with tons of greenery, especially after the rain, and some great views. Be sure to bring a change of shoes as things will likely be a bit muddy. Afterward, join us for dinner (see below). Non-trivial rain will cancel, PLEASE CHECK BACK BEFORE DRIVING OVER!
- START TIME: We usually wait 15 - 20 minutes grace, but please try to arrive early. 4:30PM is the estimated end time of the hike itself.
- DISTANCE: ~5.5 miles
- ELEVATION: ~1,050ft
- DIFFICULTY: Moderate. Some hills but not too long.
- PARKING: Park on the Street. No Permit Required, but always read/follow any street parking signs.
- MEETING LOCATION: Cul-de-sac in front of 4543 El Pietro Rd. Altadena, CA 91001
- WHERE TO FIND US: Look for the large group of people.
- RESTROOMS: NO RESTROOMS! Take care of business BEFORE arrival highly recommended!!
- DOGS: 🐕🦺 🦮DOGS ON LEASH OKAY! 🦮🐕🦺 (Likely to be muddy though!)
- WHAT TO BRING: 💧BRING AT LEAST 2 LITERS OF WATER, A HAT🤶🎅🤠, SUNSCREEN🌞, COMFORTABLE SHOES🥾, SNACKS🍓, WARM CLOTHES, MITTENS OR GLOVES, LIGHT/RAIN JACKET DEPENDING ON WEATHER FORECAST, HEAD/FLASHLIGHT RECOMMENDED IN CASE WE ARE DELAYED (PHONE OK)
