Technical work seems to attract people with ADHD. It can imbue a person with some superpowers and some impediments. Joe held various leadership and agile roles for 30 years. About two years ago, he accidently found out that he has ADHD. This led to a learning journey for him. Tonight he’ll share what he’s learned, including: the types of ADHD, how they often manifest, and what that means in the work environment. He’ll also share his personal story and how he approaches being a scrum master and change agent with ADHD. Hopefully, you’ll leave the meeting with a better understanding of the condition, and perhaps some additional empathy for your coworkers and/or yourself.
About Our Speaker
Starting in the 90s with a freshly minted degree in physics, Joe Kennedy spent a few years changing oil in cars, then teaching high school math and physics in Los Angeles before moving to Portland where he began a 20+ year career at the Intel Corporation. He started in the call center and grew into project management. Being immediately flummoxed by the usual struggles in waterfall, Joe joined a rag-tag group and began to experiment with extreme programming. Joe followed with work as product owner, a scrum master, coach, facilitator, change agent and internal instructor in scrum and agile practices. He lives in the suburbs of Portland, OR with two grown kids that he can't seem to get out of the house.Zoom Security Note
