Pier Market Seafood Restaurant: A San Francisco Icon with a Story to Tell
Nestled along the bustling Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, Pier Market is a family-owned icon that has been serving the freshest mesquite-grilled seafood to locals and visitors for over four decades, making it one of San Francisco’s most cherished restaurants. With a stunning view of the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz Island, Pier Market is more than just one of the many PIER 39 restaurants; it’s a true San Francisco experience.
The Pier Market story begins with the Simmons family. The patriarch, Warren Simmons had a dream to create a place for people from all over the globe to gather, mingle, and visit with the locals. Warren turned his dream into a reality when he conceptualized and created the famous landmark:
PIER 39. Warren’s son, Scooter, and Scooter’s wife, Nancy, came to manage and operate several restaurants with captivating views on PIER 39. Today, over 40 years later, Warren’s grandson, Ryan, and his family continue to own and operate the most successful restaurants at the Wharf in San Francisco, including Pier Market Seafood Restaurant.
In 1983, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant was born. From the beginning, the Simmons were committed to using only the freshest ingredients and cooking their seafood over mesquite charcoal, a technique that imparts a unique smoky flavor and seals in all the natural juices. This commitment to quality has remained at the heart of the Pier Market experience for over forty years.
