What we're about

We’re looking for hosts to start more in-person events! Go to https://shutupwrite.com/organizers to sign up.

For online events, check out our Online Events Meetup at https://www.meetup.com/shutupandwriteonlineevents.

Shut Up & Write hosts free in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer, regardless of genre or skill level, has access to the community, accountability, and resources they need to be successful in their personal writing goals. Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, an hour of focused writing, and a final check-in to share the hour's progress.

What to Expect

RSVP and please arrive 10–15 minutes early to get settled at an in-person event. Our host will lead introductions and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time.

Afterward, feel free to get to know each other. Members often talk about their successes and challenges as writers. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

For more information, visit https://shutupwrite.com, or email us at questions@shutupwrite.com. To learn more about our events, check out our Getting Started Guide at https://shutupwrite.com/getting-started-guide.

Shut Up & Write!® Dublin

Needs a location

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 6:00pm on Wednesday evenings at the North Market at Bridge Park.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

SCHEDULE:
6:00ish - Quick introductions
6:15ish - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
7:15ish - The End: chat, take off, or keep writing

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 7:15. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at North Market!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Whatever you need to be able to write! North Market can be loud, so please bring earplugs/headphones if that will bother you!

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:
RSVP: Please RSVP by 5:00 the evening of the meeting. This helps me know how many tables to reserve!
COVID: Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
WIFI/OUTLETS: North Market does not have readily available outlets, so please ensure your devices are charged when you come! But North Market now has free public WiFi! Yay!
PARKING: free parking is available on the street or in any of the garages at Bridge Park. The Longshore garage is closest to the market.
FOOD/BEVERAGE: North Market has many wonderful food and beverage vendors for you to choose from. Please consider thanking our venue by purchasing something!!

Join us on Friday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
SU&W Columbus has a new organizer! I'm Charles, and I'm looking forward to getting back to regular meetings in a post-COVID world. I'd also like to hear from our members on whether you'd like to move the time or location of our weekly meetings. Let me know, or, better yet, come to the Roosevelt on Friday and get to know your fellow writers!
