What we’re about
Professionals team up to socialize and do things together in community events, for a purpose. Sister group of "Social Volunteering Crew" at:
https://www.meetup.com/social-volunteering-crew-community-events
The goal is to create an efficient social connection process, while attending and exploring in relatively safe community events context, for growth, public good, or bonding. We would pick interaction rich fun events, attend in small social teams (squads), and mix in speed connection and social gaming both within and across squads, in otherwise regular tasks, to create abundant opportunities for people to socialize with each other organically.
We would attend events in two tracks, the insider volunteer track, where we go in as volunteer teams to give back and help with the events. And the participation track, where we go in as social squads. There could also be interaction between these two tracks of the same event, to help people get involved in the future.
People always look for serendipity, doing things together with people of similar professionals (or to be) background, while serving a purpose, is such a right occasion. We provide company of buddy up, experience of community events, and memory of working together, the fulfillment of purpose. Everyone could use some, after the Covid era.
Plus, we want to give you the "Spotlight" chance of self introduction to the group, by acting as co-hosts / assistants in group events. So you will be known not just as another event goner, but rather the Joe / Jane that organized that interesting outing. It is like having intense sessions with all the other event goers in parallel, your chance to shine. Don't worry, we will pair you up with partners. So you lead, we support. You gain full recognization afterwards. Nothing beats this way of self introduction in efficiency and effectiveness.
Further, we are not to survive in a bubble of our own, but rather tie within the fabrics of local communities, by reaching out, by doing things together. We are in the connection business, with each other and community, and we get to business fast.
"Open House" & social game in festivals & large events.
Team building in medium sized occasions.
Volunteering or cultural adventure etc. in small teams.

Volunteer & Visiting the beautiful LightHouse Field State Park, Santa Cruz
Lighthouse Field, 704 West Cliff, Santa Cruz, CA, USSaveTheBay has cancelled its BayDay event. We now find a habitat restoration opportunity at the beautiful Lighthouse Field State Beach (Point Santa Cruz), on Nov 1st, with California State Park Foundation. So we can do volunteering there, and visit the beautiful light house.
This is a relatively rare find. The light house there is a historical landmark, it is located on a cliff, overseeing surf sites. If you are new to bay area, this light house would be on your to-do list. The natural bridge park and santa cruz wharf are both short distance away.
As usual, we are going in two ways, the Volunteer path and the Visitor path.
- Volunteers would work in the field,
- Visitors can visit the light house and the beach around.
Beautiful and nice setting, would make a great weekend trip. Then after the volunteer shift ended around 12pm, two group would meet together, and do some more social around. Again, we would do our ice-breaking squads round, with group remix etc.. Bring your good social suggestion to the site, or in the group discussion.
To volunteer, you need to register with California State Parks Foundation. Otherwise signing up here is fine.
