What we're about

Been meaning to draw more? Or enjoy New York City more?
Do both - and meet great people too!
Come relax and learn with New York's largest drawing Meetup.

We welcome people who: have a love of art and nature - want to meet new people - want to learn from other artists - want to see parks and museums - want to start drawing, but classes are too expensive - draw all the time, or haven't drawn for years (or ever!)

What makes our Meetups different? We like to share our work, and talk, and admire art, and hang out. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment that is friendly, non-judgmental, and usually free! And all levels of artists are very welcome!

Sketch Stuyvesant Cove!

Needs a location

Stuyvesant Cove is a cute waterfront park right behind my neighborhood. Come join us to sketch the park, the water, and the beautiful views of the uptown skyline and Brooklyn skyline.

We'll meet at the entrance to the park at the end of 20th Street. Just go on 20th Street and keep walking east and stop before you fall into the water!

Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at[masked].

Looking forward to sketching with you!

IMPORTANT: In case of rain, I will let people know early in the morning if it is canceled, and then reschedule for another day.

What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? There's no instruction, but we like to share our work, and chat and be inspired. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment where all levels of artists are welcome! Don't be shy to ask anyone anything!

• We sketch for a bit, usually 45 minutes or so, and then get back together and share our drawings, and then sketch again, etc. There's usually time for 3 sketches.

• Please bring your own supplies - anything you like to work with - pens, pencil, watercolor, pastel, small sketchbook or large paper, iPad, whatever suits you.

• We hand out nametags so everyone can meet one another!

• We take photos to share on the site later. Take a bunch!

• Sorry, but please leave the dogs at home; they tend to step on the artwork. Thanks.

• This Meetup is FREE and everyone at all skill levels is welcome!

Sketch the High Bridge!

Needs a location

We've sketched here once before, and it was really cool. If you've never been here, you're in for a treat. The High Bridge is like a giant red sidewalk through the sky. It's New York's oldest bridge, which was closed for 40 years(!) before reopening as a pedestrian walkway in 2016. It has the majestic water tower to sketch and gorgeous views of the Harlem River.

Please meet at Amsterdam Avenue and 172nd street. It is important to be on time! :)
