What we’re about
Please join our Polyamory Meetup to meet other supporters of multi-partner relationships and families. Talk about open relationships, polyfidelity, polyamory, honesty, respect and alternate forms of commitment. Typical topics discussed are conflict resolution, communication, compersion, jealousy avoidance, how the lifestyle works, and what doesn't work, adding new partners,Science Fiction Entry into Polyamory, family structure, children, and many others. You do not need to identify as polyamorous to join us, all we ask is that you keep an open mind.
This meetup group is family friendly. We are not listed as an adult only group. Please note that the TOS for meetup does not allow nudity or sexual activity in your profile pictures. Please be sure messages sent to other members are friendly and appropriate, not sexual**. This is a SAFE space, do NOT use this medium to try and "pick up" anyone. Sexual messages are for people you have a relationship with and should be sent privately to them NOT on this Meet Up site.**
Because this is a family meetup, it is important to please keep your profile pictures pg-13, not only to comply with meetup's TOS, but also because there may be individuals who are under 18 looking at the site. Thank you for understanding.
If you would like to join this Meetup, Please fill out ALL THE PROFILE QUESTIONS - We screen members who wish to join.
We use these questions to make sure that those who join have at least read the information on the about us page (click here or on "pages" above) and are serious about wanting to know more about the lifestyle. The questions also serve to let the other members know what your "model" of a poly relationship would look like.Yes, this means your answers to the questions will be visible to the rest of the group. It is of benefit to both the group and to yourselves to answer these questions honestly.
Please check out our "ABOUT US" page (click here or on "pages" above). The links on there will give you an idea what Polyamory is all about (they are also posted below).
Anyone interested in attending is welcome! We ask for a donation at the meetup to help cover the expense of running them (meetup charges the organizers, not the members), but no one is ever turned away for an inability to contribute. We welcome all poly and poly friendly individuals, groups and families. We also encourage those who are curious about the lifestyle to attend our meetups. We generally have between 15 and 30 people who show up at our group meetups third Saturday of the month at a large home in the west San Fernando Valley-- Live the Dream (http://www.livethedream.org) It includes, themed discussions, pot luck lunch, socializing in clothing optional jacuzzi and various holiday evening events. Please remember that this group is based on the premise of encouraging successful relationships of all kinds. To this end, open and honest communication, respect and tolerance of our individual beliefs and philosophies are of paramount importance. We may not always agree with one another, but we still need to respect each other. We are not here to change one another's beliefs, perceptions or expressions of those beliefs, we are here to support one another and possibly learn something in the process of getting to know one another. Along this vein, please note that we are not responsible for what others put on their profiles. If you see something you do not like, simply do not go to that profile. This is a public forum, and while we do our best to pre-screen members, always follow the rules of internet safety (click here) and screen people yourself. Terry turns 72 June 15th 2025 What is it like to be 72? I once thought it meant sitting by the fire in a rocking chair, wrinkled. tired and remembering better days. Reporting from the front lines, it ain’t so. I have an active love life, both with my romantic husband and our lovers who bring us delight in our bed which is big enough for four to sleep and cuddle in. Five can fit for…other activities. My husband and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary April 28 (a bit early) in Hawaii! Many of my friends and lovers have been in my life for decades. The Co-author of our book Fifty Years of Polyamory in America Glen Olson has been my best friend since we were in High School. At age 15, we were part of a Sensitivity Group which feature weekly evening meetings for doing verbal and sensual exercises ranging from sharing our discovery of how opposite (and delightful) the opposite sex could be to exploring each other’s faces with curious, gentle fingers. We had birthday parties and kidnap breakfasts, too. The difference between this and most teen gatherings was that at any moment the mood could shift and if one of us needed to TALK about something, get advice or blow off steam, we could. Glen and I read Robert Heinlein’s Stranger in a Strange Land when we were 15 and Shared Water as written in the book. This creates Family by Choice which can be at least as close as Family by blood. Others in our group Shared Water with each other and some with us. The two Nests became One when at age 18 I I grew close enough with a girl in the other Nest to want her as water kin. Today we have a Nest of 12 who get together pretty regularly in various configurations. Most of these have joined us along the way in our adult lives such as my second husband Paul and his wife Athena, . Others are further out in our orbit geographically such as the leader of our sensitivity group in high school , Art. My husband Craig and I visit him in Northern California when we do Dicken’s Faire at which he plays a dear friend of Charles Dickens himself. The connection when we do get together is as close as it was when he and I were teenagers. It is wonderful to share old memories and create new ones. We visit Kathy and Dean in that area, too. Our water kin (since 1987) Dave and Eileen sometimes join our LTD meetings on Zoom from Oregon and we do visit them in their Washington (state) cooperative living community every year or three. Oberon and Rhianon Zell were in town here before their Tennessee wedding in May of 2024 at which I handled the guest book. Oberon (founder and primate of Church of All Worlds based on Stranger in a Strange Land) conducted a meeting of most of those in our LA Nest at that time. Very special for all of us. Guess that is pushing 22 active Waterkin, geographical barriers aside. Oberon shared water with the first members of his own Nest while in college and has added MANY more friends and lovers to that list since then. Aside from his 43 years of marriage to Morning Glory Zell (until her passing in 2014) he has had loving relationships with secondary partners which have lasted more than quarter of a century. He has continued such relationships since marrying that very special Lady Rhaiannon Martin. They made very clear at their wedding that this was going to be a lively, passionate marriage not just companionship in their old age though he is 82 and she is in her 70s
What does it take to develop that kind of intimate network? Hint: you DON’T have to start it in high school or college. This meeting is about exactly how you can make it happen in your life. Whether you are 18 or 80 you can create the joy of CONNECTION in your life starting NOW! Join us by Zoom or in person for this meeting to find out how! Hugs and hot tubs are better in person if you are local…
