What we’re about

This is the home of Manchester's community group for discussions about all things Pod technology. It's for all professionals in all sectors who are interested in learning what is next for web technologies; how it will affect workforce skills, what the future of accessing personal data will look like for services and business, impacts upon data security, how citizen populations will benefit from a new data sharing consent model, and it's a place to join-in and access discussions outside of formal settings.

So whether you're a humble developer wanting to know how to develop for decentralised data web architecture, or work within policy - these discussions are for everyone. There's a movement to all of this - get involved early.

Solid Pods
Solid itself is a specification that lets people store their data securely in decentralized data stores called Pods. Pods are like secure personal web servers for your data.

It's a web decentralization project led by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, developed collaboratively at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Aiming to radically change the way web applications work today, resulting in true data ownership as well as improved privacy. Solid project website: https://solidproject.org/
