About us
Welcome! I'm so glad you found us... Welcome to our community. Our group is alive and well and growing by leaps and bounds. We host both online and live events, mostly but not exclusively in the Orange County area.
As of 2022, I am leading transformational groups to Greece in September and once in Costa Rica in June. Please check out my travel website at lesbiangetaways.com for trip info. I would love it if you joined the mailing list. This separates out our special announcements from all the other meetup emails which can be overwhelming at times. The occasional emails will come from Lesbian Getaways.
I have been so touched by the intimacy and connections that are being created ongoingly through our group interactions. Lots of close friendships and circles have been made and yes, even some romance! I try to mix it up and keep it interesting and I’m always open to new ideas and feedback. My commitment to every member is that there are no "outsiders" and all folks that identify as a woman loving women are welcome. I believe that the experience of feeling welcome and included is palpable in our group events whether live or on Zoom.
For FB users, please follow us (facebook.com/somanywomensolittletime/). If you would like to be part of our secret FB group or our So Cal Lesbian Pickleballers group, please email me at lesbiangetaways@gmail.com and let me know. Once in, you can invite your friends directly from there.
I ask that you please set your notifications at minimum to receive organizer messages and new event announcements. This has to be done while actually on our group site. You can find the settings by clicking on your round profile photo on the top right corner and select email and notifications.
I am so looking forward to meeting you whether it be online or in person when that time comes.
With Enthusiasm,
Your organizer, Jody

A Little Bit of Everything Dance!
How is this for an idea to please everyone's musical tastes?? When you RSVP, you submit your favorite dance song. Everyone's got that special song that makes them light up on the dancefloor, right? I will compile them all and create a dance list! If you must submit two, then go for it.
There are a few special birthdays close to this date so let's celebrate two special women who have made it around the globe many times and everyone else born in the month of July.
Yes, there will be cake!
If you want to be sure to have a table or bar seat, please come early
This is a community event and therefore there is a small entrance cost of $10 charge to go towards meetup dues and equipment costs. Hopefully, our attendance will be amazing and we will raise enough to purchase a better speaker for this event so the sound will be fantastic for this and future dances!
WHAT MAKES OUR DANCES SPECIAL? I will lead a fun group dance and/or intro game at 7pm. You won't want to miss that. I hope you don't miss out, particularly if you are single and/or coming alone.
We will also have nametags making it easer to remember one another.
FEEL FREE TO COME ALONE BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE FOR LONG!
SCHEDULE:
6-7 Line Dancing led by great dancers-no experience necessary!
7 Wild, Wild West group dance and/or intro game
7:30-11 Dance to our hearts content
I would LOVE and APPRECIATE a few volunteers to rotate throughout the night at the front greeting people, giving out nametags and checking people off the list or collecting $10/person. It is a fantastic way to meet people for those that like to have a task at events (I know you're out there). Please email me at jody@lesbiangetaways.com if you are up for the task!
I will most likely be posting an early dinner ahead of time across the street so keep an eye out for the separate event post.
You can pay CASH at the door or purchase a ticket in advance on the LesbianGetaways.com/events page
I'm very excited to play with you all!

Alanis Morisette's "Jagged Little Pill" Play
Chance Theater, 5522 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim, CA, USWE'RE GETTING OUR CULTURE ON! Let's go to this award winning production Jagged Little Pill @ my favorite local theater, The Chance. It is owned by an ally whose mother is also a member of SMWSLT! I have seen many plays there before and have found that they particularly excel in musicals!
TICKETS:
We have 20 reserved seats. If you want to sit with us, CLICK HERE to buy your ticket or grab your member ticket through Lesbian Getaways.
If they are sold out on the LG site, you can still go directly through the box office and say you are with Jody's meetup group to see if you can still get the group 30% discount. Don't pay attention to the RSVP count here on meetup to determine whether there are tickets left with our group because some people may have signed up and are coming separately with friends.Box office: (888) 455-4212
We will meet in the lobby at 2:45, enjoy the play together and then, for those that are up for more, enjoy dinner afterwards.
You can always go on another day if this date does not work for you. Pride Night is the night before.
CHANCE BOX OFFICE TO PURCHASE TICKETS FOR ANOTHER SHOWI highly recommend becoming a member of the theater for $15-20/month which gets you into the season. Besides being a good deal, it helps them get their grant funding.

Jagged Little Pill reimagines Alanis Morissette’s iconic 1995 album into a contemporary musical that delves into the complexities of a seemingly perfect suburban family. Set in the affluent town of Connecticut, the story centers on Mary Jane Healy, a mother grappling with past traumas and addiction, while balancing her family as they confront issues including sexual assault, gender identity, and societal expectations. Through powerful performances and Morissette’s evocative music that defined a generation, this award winning musical weaves together themes of family, healing, and empowerment. It’s a fearless, exhilarating celebration of hope, self-discovery, and the messy beauty of being human.
Please be aware: Jagged Little Pill includes intense themes, scenes, events, and discussions that may be unsettling to some viewers.
“Morissette’s acoustic outing for her smash-hit album’s anniversary proves these songs are as lacerating as ever.”
The Guardian
“fully in focus: clear in its priorities, rich in character, sincere without syrup, rousing and real… it certainly is original.”
The New York TimesJust FYI
The 1995 Jagged Little Pill album is highly autobiographical, written in real-time based on Alanis Morissette's journals, personal pain, and feelings of betrayal. However, the Broadway musical of the same name is not a biography; it uses her songs to tell a fictional story about a dysfunctional Connecticut family.
Album Details
Real-time Writing: Most of the album was written rapidly, often one song a day based on immediate feelings.
Journal Entries: Songs like "Hand in My Pocket" and "You Oughta Know" were directly inspired by personal journal entries.
**The "Human Condition": **
Morissette described the album as an exploration of her personal vulnerability, rage, and betrayal at the time.

Musical Details
Fictional Story: The musical focuses on the Healy family, covering topics like addiction, sexual assault, and race, which were not directly part of Morissette’s own life story.16 attendees
