About us
Hi, and welcome. I'm François Normandeau, founder of The French Club.
If you understand more French than you can comfortably speak, you're in the right place. That gap between understanding and speaking is the one thing we're built to close. You've joined a community of 36,000+ members across 24 Meetup groups worldwide, adults who want the same thing you do: real, practical French they can actually use out loud, learned alongside others instead of alone.
Your free gift is ready: the full A1 French course, 50 modules, the equivalent of 1,200+ pages of lessons, exercises, and homework, with audio and video to build your pronunciation and speaking reflexes. No catch, no obligation, no credit card.
Start here, today:
Create your account and open the free A1 course → https://www.frenchclub.net/
Step-by-step setup guide → https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fSyoLZDxM2QdHXO0TnDh1UVFP_QjWTXA1Hj-qwcIIMM/
Most members begin with the free A1 course and our free live events, then go further when they're ready:
* Semi-private courses, A1 to B2. Ten-week sessions capped at five students, so you actually speak and get corrected every class, on a clear path where you always know what to work on next.
* The Momentum Lab. A 10-week speaking-performance program with recorded checkpoints, so you can see your fluency and confidence improve, proof, not promises.
* Our book club, Liseurs et Raconteurs. The Francophone world one book at a time, starting with seven Québécois authors, and growing in 2027 into a paid Québec-literature course with Librairie Pantoute.
* Immersion experiences. Small-group trips lived entirely in French, from Quebec City to Nice, Paris, and beyond.
Whatever brought you to French, you're welcome.
See you at an event soon. ツ

Cynthia Brown — A True Francophile
Cynthia has traveled to France more than 25 times and has visited numerous countries where French is the predominant language. France continues to hold a special place in her heart, and she returns regularly to spend time with her life partner, Christophe.
She has also earned the DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) A2 certification, demonstrating her commitment to continuing her French-language journey.
Beginning in October 2026, Cynthia brings that passion for French cinema to The French Club Cinema, where she coordinates the film class. She selects films for the group to watch in advance and leads lively discussions and Q&A sessions, creating an opportunity for members to explore French language, culture, history, and storytelling through cinema.
For Cynthia, being a Francophile is more than an appreciation of France — it is a lifelong journey of learning, travel, friendship, culture, and a deep affection for the French language and way of life.
