A relaxed, focused study hour for current A1 students in the 10-week course. You'll meet online once a week to work through the exact homework from your current modules. You get structure, gentle accountability, without turning it into a full lesson.

Current A1 learners enrolled in the 10-week program who want a quiet space to get homework done and keep momentum between classes.

How It Works (60 minutes)

Every week, you will tackle the modules seen earlier in the course. Nicole, the host, will have final say as to which modules are part of that week's homework.

What You’ll Get

Nicole is not a French teacher and can't provide detailed explanations. But you'll get the answer key for the exercises or the exam that you completed during the homework session.

What To Bring

Your A1 course document for the current week, your homework list, a notebook or doc for answers. Camera on is encouraged; microphone on only during Q&A.

Scope And Boundaries

We stay strictly inside the A1 curriculum you are currently studying. This is not a replacement for class or a one-to-one tutoring slot.

Logistics

Weekly on Google Meet. New York time (ET). Free to attend. RSVP required to keep the room small and effective. Please arrive on time so the first work block can start smoothly.

Learning French Through Audio Content and Shadowing

If you enjoy training your ear to understand spoken French, and practicing with content created for native French speakers, you’ll love these sessions!
We listen to French content (mainly audiobooks and podcast episodes) at normal speed to train our ear to the language and improve our comprehension abilities.
We also have dedicated time during the sessions for shadowing the content to improve our speaking skills.
The topics vary greatly, covering everything from entertainment and current events to social issues and historical accounts.

What to Expect

The content covered will be primarily B1 level and higher. With that said, anyone who wants to improve their listening comprehension and speaking abilities is welcome to attend, as long as you’re onboard with listening at normal speed to train your ear to recognize natural spoken French.
In the shadowing portion, we may adjust the speed to a range between 0.7 and 1.0 speed as needed for ease of repetition.
In terms of the format, we listen sentence by sentence, reviewing each sentence as we go, and analyzing words, phrases, and structures more in depth as needed.
There’s also time allotted to shadow the content that we’ve covered in the session to practice pronunciation.

You’ll meet online once a week to work through the exact homework from your current modules. You get structure and gentle accountability without turning it into a full lesson.

Important Availability Note: This A2 French homework session will be free and open for everyone to attend but the content and materials will only be accessible to Premium plan holders on The French Club language platform (https://www.frenchclub.net).

French Between the Lines: Your Window into the French-Speaking World
Do you enjoy exploring meaningful topics and current events while improving your French in a practical way?

Join us for a dynamic and interactive workshop where French comes to life through real online articles, as we take turns reading them in French and translating them into English, and vice versa.

This workshop is for A2-B2 learners although the content used will be B1–B2 level.

Each session offers a unique opportunity to experience French beyond textbooks, by engaging with a wide range of topics including art, culture, society, lifestyle, international news, and more. Whatever your interests are, there is something for everyone.

What to Expect
This free weekly workshop is designed primarily for A2 and B1 learners who want to strengthen their reading comprehension, speaking ability, and ability to translate their thoughts from English to French, in a structured and supportive environment. Beginners will also benefit by hearing French read aloud and broken down into clear English.

As participants gain confidence, English articles may also be read and translated into French. These sessions aim to build confidence in reading, pronunciation, and vocabulary by understanding words and expressions in context.

Beginners are welcome to attend, listen, and benefit from exposure to spoken French and guided explanations.

How the Workshops Work

• Participants take turns reading short engaging French articles aloud.
• Sentences are translated and discussed as a group including clarification of meaning and vocabulary review.
• Participants may summarize ideas in their own words (in French or English) or react to the content to spark discussion and deepen understanding.
• A short “focus point” is introduced each session (grammar, expressions, sentence structure, or cultural nuance) emphasizing how everyday concepts and ideas are expressed differently in French.
• The emphasis is not on word-for-word translation, but on expressing meaning naturally and clearly.
• The sessions will conclude with a brief time for conversation about the article, prompted by discussion questions.
