Vicente Bluff Reserve Early Riser's Walk

Details

Arrive by: 7:20AM
Walk begins promptly at 7:30AM
Duration: 75 minutes
Distance: 3.25 miles

Enjoy an early morning walk along the beautiful coastal trails of the Vicente Bluffs Reserve. This is an 'out-and-back' walk timed for a return to Pelican Cove by 8:45AM. To accomplish this, we will walk for about 35 minutes before returning along the same path. There is a mild elevation gain occurring mostly in the first quarter mile of our walk.

From the Pelican Cove Parking Lot, we will begin by heading west along Palos Verdes Drive. Our path will take us through the grounds of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center (PVIC) and then through the Vicente Bluffs Reserve on the Seascape and Golden Cove trails, turning around at a bench near the Golden Cove Trail parking lot. When we reach the turn around point (or our 35 minute time goal if that comes first) we will retrace our steps back to PVIC. You may wish to walk through the small native garden there before heading back to our starting point in the Pelican Cove parking lot. This route should take about 75 minutes in total.

FYI: This walk has been scheduled to allow those of us who enjoy the 8:45am Pelican Cove Walk to add a few extra miles through the Vicente Bluffs Reserve before joining the Pelican Cove walk. If you do plan to join us on both walks, please RSVP to both. By doing both hikes, you will cover 6 to 6.5 miles with about 450 ft elevation gain.
