The Bachata is a dance from the Caribbean and Dominican Republic, and it began as a very basic dance. Deriving from Cuba, Cha Cha is characterized by its fun and flirtatious hip movements, beautiful spins and figures, with a variety of upbeat rhythms. Its slower, smooth and continuous hip actions, known as the ‘Cuban movement’, give it a romantic and sensual feel. Cha Cha is a fun and lively dance that gets your heart pumping on the dance floor. It's similar to Mambo and Rumba, although it replaces the “slow step” of both dances with a triple step. Kim will lead us through a variety of old and new dances that welcome newbies and delight experienced dancers.** **Roscommon Sessions, a traditional Irish music quartet from Columbus, Ohio, began their musical journey centered around the energy and spontaneity of Irish sessions. They are excited to bring their lively jigs and reels, a couple of flowing waltzes, and the occasional musical surprise to the All Soles contra dancers!** **Roscommon Sessions is Steve Steele (guitar), Jim Lindroth (percussion), Carol Metheny (fiddle) and Sarah Sigmon (fiddle).** **We hope to see you dancing!** **Location: First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W.
