1 DAY Film-jam No.116
1 DAY Film-jam No.116
This event will be for people to meet, go off and film, come back and enjoy the results. Whatever you want to do, be it film, act, direct or even just sort of hang around at the back then this is the event for you! MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE. If you are wondering what this group can provide for you, it’s above all else friendship with other like minded people, whether you are a screenwriter, director, cameraperson, actor etc etc. With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following: 1. We’ll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank. 2. We’ll split into two groups (or more if needed) 3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film. BUT 4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc. Remember to bring: 1. You and your enthusiasm 2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever) 3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt! The first team that finishes gets a Small Prize! Hopefully then, you will stick around to have a great time chatting about film, meeting new people, and forgetting about work until the late hours. Look forward to seeing you there! If there are no more places available on meetup then MORE tickets available on eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/ben-52750032443 Please Check Dates as this isnt a weekly meetup

Saturday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
Saturday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
It's **Saturday** & our main night of the week & the fun & games are just getting started here at DWL! We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on: * **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00. * **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00 🦁 And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too. 🌭☕ There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices! Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way. And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema. Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**: Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you £4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just £2! 🍿🥤 That's half price Popcorn & Pop! This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (£5 initially but to refill it's just £3). There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu 😋 If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! 🎲

AnimanJapan Anime & Manga Club!
AnimanJapan Anime & Manga Club!
If you love anime & manga then please join us for our weekly meetups, where we basically just sit, chat and read anime & manga! We usually sit in the back of the pub. If the weather is nice we may sit outside at the back of the pub, or even outside on the downstairs floor. In this meetup, you can BYOM (bring your own manga) or read one from the selection we will bring. See this as an opportunity to discover, recommend or simply enjoy Japanese comics & anime with like-minded people! Note: This is not a book club. Also, the TCR bar is kind enough to allow us to use their space to host this meetup, and has asked if possible for attendees to support the venue by purchasing a drink or food while you're there. Please don't bring your own food or drink to consume at the venue, as the venue does not allow this! Set in 1980s Rome, it follows **Sapienza’s** five-day incarceration for theft and her life-changing friendships with young inmates, especially Roberta (played by **Matilda De Angelis**). It’s a raw and powerful portrait of returning to freedom and forging authentic connections. We’ll first gather at the **BFI box office** (Lightbox entrance), and then proceed to **NFT Screen 1** for the screening, which will include an **introduction and Q&A** led by actress **Valeria Golino**. ***🍷At war with himself, feared by all, tortured and alone—when the sun sets, the hunt begins.*** **👋 Greetings everyone!** Let’s meet up for a gothic adventure as we step into a world of dark fantasy anime. Directed by **Yoshiaki Kawajiri**, this film transports us to a dark, atmospheric future, where the undead have risen from apocalyptic ashes, and vampires rule the night—though even they face extinction. While this film serves as a sequel to the original, it’s a standalone story based on the third novel, **Demon Deathchase**, so no need to watch the first film. Free Film and Theatre themed visit to the V&A with an Exhibition and Galleries
Free Film and Theatre themed visit to the V&A with an Exhibition and Galleries
First, we will visit the exhibition Enthoven Unboxed: 100 Years of Collecting Performance. This exhibition marks 100 years since Gabrielle Enthoven founded the theatre and performance collection at the V&A, and the display explores an A–Z of themes to show how performance continues to entertain, provoke and inspire. There is a huge variety of items on display ranging from Elton John's glasses through modern concert posters through to late 19th century theatre themed artwork. Next, we will walk through the museum to the Theatre and Performance Galleries. These galleries contain exciting theatre and performance collections, including rock and pop posters, theatre and ballet costumes, puppets, stage sets, Stars Wars costumes, and more. We should expect to spend around 45 minutes at each of the two legs of the visit. If we finish early, there are numerous other galleries in the museum, and we can pick another one or two to visit depending on timings. I already have a note of what's on. After the exhibition and galleries, the meetup ends, but it would be great if most if not all of us, stay for an entirely optional tea, drink, or snack in one of the many establishments in the area or the cafe at the V&A if that is still open. This will offer a great opportunity to relax and chat socially after what should be an interesting afternoon. The exhibitions are free, but the usual £1.50 group maintenance fee applies and is non refundable. Please note that Meetup now adds about £0.60 to this as well. (If you pay cash on the day, it’s £2.50). As always, you are participating at your own risk. We would appreciate it if you changed your RSVP no more than 2 days before the event should you find you can no longer attend. No shows or cancellations on the day may result in you being removed from the group.

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that. We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.
