Der Sprachklub bietet einen Raum, um Russisch in entspannter und freundlicher Atmosphäre zu sprechen. In der Zeit vor Ostern – einem gemeinsamen Fest für Deutsche und Russen, das in diesem Jahr auf unterschiedliche Termine fällt – werden die Teilnehmer des Sprachklubs die Ostertraditionen in Russland, Deutschland und anderen Ländern diskutieren. Die Gäste des Abends werden über die Geschichte und die Symbole des wichtigsten christlichen Feiertags sprechen und sich mit dem Ostervokabular vertraut machen – selbst für fortgeschrittene Teilnehmer gibt es Neues zu entdecken. Während in Deutschland der Osterhase Schokoladenüberraschungen im Garten versteckt und Bäume mit bemalten Eiern geschmückt werden, sind die Traditionen in Russland ganz anders. Die Teilnehmer erwartet ein Eintauchen in die Atmosphäre der russischen Osterfeier. Sie lernen sogar den traditionellen Ostergruß, der am Ostermorgen gesprochen wird, und können damit ihre russischen Bekannten überraschen.

Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
