*"Envelops visitors in a mesh of threads that echoes the complexity and nuance of life itself"* – The Wick
**Join us at the Hayward Gallery for a double exhibition featuring large-scale installations of immersive and emotive works: Chiharu Shiota/Threads of Life and Yin Xiuzhen/Heart to Heart**
Chiharu Shiota is best-known for her large-scale installations which engulf ordinary objects – such as shoes, keys, beds, chairs and dresses – within huge web structures made from woollen thread.
The resulting works are immersive and deeply emotive, often drawing from personal experience, which Shiota expands into universal human concerns such as life, death and relationships.
Yin Xiuzhen is renowned for her use of secondhand clothing, concrete, food and household ephemera in her immersive installations and sculptures.
She creates multimedia artworks that negotiate the spaces between memories, individuals and the globalised societies that we live in today.

✏️ Free Sketch & Social
Join us for a relaxed sketching session from 2–4pm on Sundays followed by a warm drink and a chat in a nearby café. 😊
We usually meet at the V&A Museum or outside in a local park when the weather allows. Please check the location listed in the event details each week, as it may change depending on rain, sun, or gallery access.
This is a calm, informal, free meetup — you're welcome to draw at your own pace, chat a little, or just get into the flow. It’s open to all levels, from total beginners to experienced artists.
🖍️ Art materials:
In museums/galleries, we can only use dry, non-messy materials: pens, biros, colour pencils, markers, and fine liners (no paint, pastel, or charcoal).
In parks or outdoor spaces, feel free to bring paints, pastels, or whatever you like!
Bring your own sketchbook and materials, and come just as you are. We’d love to draw with you. ✨✏️☕
