How to Find Your Basic Purpose - Workshop!
'HOW TO FIND YOUR BASIC PURPOSE'
A Life Improvement free workshop with Maria Bennett.
In this a live in-venue workshop:
\- Do you know your basic purpose?
\- What makes a person's basic purpose?
\- Practical drills to help you define your own basic purpose\.
Pen and paper provided,so - let's get stuck in!!
Using information taken from the book '*Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health*' by L. Ron Hubbard.
*Testimonial:*
*"Great seminar. I liked how you took us through step by step and we found our own basic purposes. It is a common basic purpose for all, I believe. I realised that the spiritual is more important to me than anything else. My purpose is to help others and the webinar validated things I do. I liked how the participants feel free to communicate their situations. My win was that I can use your method to help others find their basic purpose too. Thanks!" - VR*
Maria: I have worked at the Scientology Life Improvement Centre helping and coaching others for over 20 years.
I enjoy this a lot! I have access to tools that anyone can put to use in their life to make the positive improvements that they may be looking for.
I look forward to meeting you.
What can you do after the workshop?
We have various other free services that you could do - such as the free personality test. We also have a lot of Life Improvement Courses. These focus on specific areas of life to help 'unblock' them, put your actual abilities to use!

So grab your favorite game and come join us for an unforgettable gaming experience. Let the games begin!
Feel free to join us by hitting that attend button below.
**What to expect:**
* We meet at the Anerley Arms (next to Anerley train station) from 7pm (there is food available at the bar)
* If you do not have a game setup, you can arrive at any time. If you do have a game to set up we recommend getting there earlier.
* It is a relaxed atmosphere, where we generally prioritize company over fierce competition.
* Please bring along any games you think we might enjoy, or you can play from the games that others bring.
* We split into a few groups based on people's game preferences and numbers, and usually have plenty of time to try a few games over the course of the evening.
* The event hosts are regular attendees but might not make it to every event - if you can't spot us, then just approach the folks sitting at tables surrounded by board games (usually on left as you come in the door). We're a friendly bunch and will be more than happy to welcome you.
(Please update your RSVP if it turns out you'll be unable to attend, to free up your space for others who may otherwise miss out!)
Thursday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
It's **Thursday** & our main night of the week & the fun & games are just getting started here at DWL!
We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on:
* **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00.
* **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00
🦁 And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too.
🌭☕ There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices!
Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way.
And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema.
Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**:
Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you £4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just £2! 🍿🥤
That's half price Popcorn & Pop!
This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (£5 initially but to refill it's just £3).
There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu 😋
If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! 🎲

CLH Book Group 📚The Cut Throat Trial by the Secret Barrister
January's Book: The Cut Throat Trial by the Secret Barrister writing as SJ Fleet.
It is one of the biggest trials of the year. Three seventeen-year-old boys are accused of the brutal murder of an elderly teacher on New Year's Eve.
Each boy denies it.
Each points the finger at the other two.
But they can’t all be innocent.
The three defence barristers have only one job: to persuade the jury that their client is not guilty. But they’re up against a prosecutor who needs to win the case, no matter the cost.
Because when the game is murder, the competition is deadly.
Launching a brilliant new voice in crime fiction, a criminal barrister with an incomparable insider’s knowledge, The Cut Throat Trial is the most gripping thriller of the year.
'A sharp legal thriller that grips you from the first page . . . a thrilling page turner' - Mason Cross, author of The Killing Season
'A deviously plotted, whip-smart courtroom thriller that oozes tension' - Neil Broadfoot, author of Falling Fast
'Astute, empathetic, and satisfyingly twisty' - Sarah Vaughan, author of Anatomy of a Scandal
The meeting starts at 7:15. At 7:30 pm we will break up into small groups. Those familiar with the CLH Book Group meeting know how this works: in each group we take turns introducing ourselves and giving our 1 minute thoughts on the book. It's important not to go over a minute and not to interrupt other people's minute so that everyone gets a chance to participate. After this first round, each group discusses for another 20 minutes or so.
We then shuffle the groups so as to talk to as many different people as possible and in the new groups repeat our introductions and 1 minute thoughts. We'll do this a couple of times before coming all together at the end in one last big group.
While we are very social and welcoming, the book group's primary focus is on discussing books. Feel free to turn up if you haven't managed to finish this month's book but note that the group works best when we have all read at least half of the book and are prepared to share our opinions.
***
£3 per person to attend. If it's your first time, come and try us out for free!
If you prefer, you can [pay online, by clicking here](https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=ZWCNRJ25BDL96).
We encourage dialogue, debate and sharing of information on our site but ask people to keep their comments cordial. Any views expressed here are those of the individual posting them and may not reflect those of CLH.

Lecture—The Israel-Iran 12-Day War
The talk explains how Israel’s nuclear dominance strategy and Iran’s deterrence efforts turned a shadow conflict into the 12-day war.
**Speaker: Or (Ori) Rabinowitz**
Israel’s long-standing effort to preserve its regional nuclear monopoly has been shaping its confrontation with Iran and other regional nuclear proliferators for decades. By situating Israel’s counter-proliferation strategies and Iran’s pursuit of nuclear deterrence within a shared historical trajectory, this talk will explain how a persistent shadow conflict evolved into open confrontation, detailing the dynamics that laid the groundwork for the 12-day Israel–Iran war.
### **About the speaker**
**Or (Ori) Rabinowitz**, a Chevening scholar, is a tenured Senior Lecturer at the International Relations Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. As of September 2022, she is a Visiting Professor and Visiting Scholar at Stanford’s CISAC. Her research interests include nuclear proliferation, intelligence studies, and Israeli-American relations, and she holds a PhD in Department of War Studies from King’s College London, an MA in Security Studies, and an LLB in Law from Tel-Aviv University. She was awarded numerous grants and fellowships, including two personal research grants from the Israeli Science Foundation. In 2020, she was a member of the Young Academic Forum of the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
We’ll have a discussion after the lecture at the university’s café.

The Spawn London (Beginner Friendly Game) - Social Deduction on a Cosmic Scale
"Humanity's insatiable appetite to colonise reached far into the stars, but they learned the hard way that some stones should remain unturned. Whilst aggressively terraforming Spawn home worlds, humanity stirred the ancient species out of their slumber and incurred their rage in a cataclysmic event.
Now conflict dances across the cosmos as the Spawn seek violent retribution by assimilating themselves among humanity and destroying them from within. Humanity’s only hope of survival is to detect the Spawn among them and destroy the threat."
The Spawn is a large-scale elimination-based social deduction game where humanity must root out the Spawn which have infiltrated their ranks or be overpowered by them. Strategic gameplay, social subterfuge and captivating sci-fi converge in one immersive experience.

Drop-in Saturday Games & Social @ The Thirsty Bear
If you're looking for a laid back Saturday playing some board games and talking nerd stuff in a pub with some awesome people, this is the meetup for you! Whether you're new to London or just want to get some long-lost in-person socialisation, we're a friendly community and welcome you all.
**What to expect:** We officially play from **2 PM to 7 PM**, but we keep it casual. Show up when you can, and stay as long as you like. If you’re having a good time, there’s usually a group that stays late for a few extra pints and chat.
**Some house rules:**
* We aim to ensure these events are friendly, welcoming and safe, and so we ask you abide by our [Code of Conduct](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YEl0gv61SkBFN-YF6fyVvuQYicWbWhRL/view?usp=drive_link)
* We have a community box of games we keep in the pub, but please feel welcome to bring your own games along. Just be prepared to teach us how to play!
* We don't charge a cover fee, so please help support the pub by ordering food and drink throughout the afternoon.
* Please keep your RSVPs updated so we can manage numbers and ensure we can reserve enough tables.
An easy on-ramp into local activities (Battersea & Clapham)
This is a small, low-key meet for people who want to get more involved in local activities — but don’t love turning up alone or blind the first time.
We’ll meet early evening for a relaxed drink and talk through:
* what kinds of things people are curious to try (run clubs, tennis, gym classes, etc.)
* what those activities are actually like
* how easy (or not) they are to return to
Sometimes people decide to try something together another day.
Sometimes they just leave clearer and do it solo later.
Both are completely fine.
This isn’t a class, a talk, or a big social night — it’s just an on-ramp.
***
## What this *is*
* A calm starting point
* A way to lower first-time friction
* A place to decide what’s worth trying
## What this *isn’t*
* A party or mixer
* A guarantee of friends
* A commitment to anything after
***
## Who this is good for
* You’ve been meaning to try something locally but keep putting it off
* You’re socially fine, just not keen on first times alone
* You like low-pressure, small groups
## Who this probably isn’t for
* If you’re looking for a high-energy social night
* If you want a hosted activity on the night itself
***
## Practical bits
* Small group (kept intentionally)
* Early evening
* Look for a table at the outside part of the pub under the word 'mingle'
Actively is about helping people decide their scene — and, if it helps, going the first time together.
